So my Ranger Lariat came with 18's - 265/60/18 but know that many come with 17's. I've been considering dropping to a Tremor wheelset (17's), but recall on previous vehicles the taller tire sidewall created more tire movement (slop). Wondering if anyone's compared these on their Ranger and it there was any discernible differences on the road? I know many probably like having more sidewall for offroad but I'm not concerned about this aspect. I'm mostly driving on road.
Depends on primary use. If only smooth paved roads you could put 20" wheels and be fine. For offroading, a smaller wheel is better. because you can get more tire cushion between the wheel and rocks with an equivalent outside diameter.

I am still running the stock eighteens that came with the Black Appearance Package on my 2019 Lariat. From what everybody says, the seventeens give you a little softer ride because there is more tire sidewall to absorb the pounding, but the difference is hardly noticeable. Anyway, other factors make more difference, and I have the Ford/Fox Leveling kit installed and replaced the stock Hankook tires with stock-sized Falden Wildpeaks AT. So I decided to stick with the eighteens on this truck, but next time, I will probably get seventeens (and a Tremor)...
