Hello everyone I’m looking to upgrade my suspension on my 2021 fx4 lariat. I have looked all over the forums for ideas but I’m still racking my brain. The problem is the cast steel knuckles so I think I’m going to go with a camburg trail kit ,originally I wanted a bds but they’re not going to work with the knuckles. I’m only looking for either a 285/70r17 or a 33x12.50. What do you guys recommend for the rear, icon or deavers or bds shackles. My off-roading isn’t too crazy no rock crawling or desert running. I drive in the pine barrens of New Jersey on old roads and trails to get to my hunting spots. Some are very nasty and washed out I’m not afraid to really push the truck. Any input would help and any suggestions are appreciated. I had even considered the Woolworth kit but I’m skeptical about any spacer lift

Take a look at the Eibach Leveling Struts. I have really enjoyed the change in ride quality. I believe many have been able to run this setup and 285/70/17 on stock wheels with a spacer or with an after market wheel option. Im still waiting for my original tires to wear out but will be going with a 285/70/17.

So instead of a leveling kit I suggest a lift kit!!!! Yes there is a difference and the one I suggest to you is Old Man EMU!! You do not have to worry about the control arms as the factory ones are retained. What do you get with the basic kit? New shocks on all 4 with new coil and leaf springs. The front is lifted by 2.4 inches and the rear is lifted by 1.6 inches. With that kit you can easily put on 285/70-17 Firestone Destination XT tires on factory wheels with no spacers and have no rubbing. Those tires will lift the truck about 1.5 inches on all 4 from stock. How much weight can you put in the back before you level it out? 800 lbs in the bed will level the truck out on the standard OME leaf springs.

I do have an entire review with information if you look it up.

Here are some pictures of my truck with 265/70-17 Bridgestone Duelers right now.

I ran duellers on my 2005 gmc crewcab for at least 15 years, loved them how are they out for on your setup?

To say the least I'm not too impressed with the revo 3. No tire noise that I noticed. Offroad traction is good. Snow traction is ok but then again it isnt a snow tire. Wet traction is good for the first 5,000 miles. After that the sipes start to wear out. With about 24,000 miles on them I am already at 6/32nds of tread left. Next month I plan to replace them with Firestone Destination XT's in 285/70-17 since I know they wont rub.

Great Advice... Consider what you really want... Driving performance on-off road. firmer dampening to minimize undulation off road, height to clear obstacles or bigger tires.. There are lots of options and the preference is personal.

Owning and modding quite a few vehicles... Id recommend minimal changes to height, only as really needed. Because.. the stress on components and handling impacts are real. Sticking with a reasonable tire size will also have lots of functional benefit - mileage, handling, braking.. ect

An OME kit, or other springs-shocks only (fox-deaver), set up with medium rates and minimal height increase is where my gut is based on your description of needs.

Do you research and understand the driving dynamics of the tires you choose... That is a big choice and you will feel it every day. A solid load C LT in 265/70 17 is very capable and a great balance of on-off road performance for your Ranger.

Enjoy!!
