This is the first truck I have had in the past 45 years that had a heat shield and some of those previous trucks the exhaust came closer to the spare than it does with the Ranger. Much adu about nothing IMHO.

Yeah, definitely not the end of the world. I have yet to go on any road trips with this truck so not sure how hot things would get after a couple of hours on the road. Things didn't seem too crazy from city driving though.

The exhaust on modern vehicles with the multiple Cats and emission controls probably runs a bit hotter on average than past systems but it would seem that the Ford engineers agree with you .
Just as the auto makers find out after launch that a vehicle may need a revised part due to an unseen issue , some items will be deemed unnecessary and be deleted over the production run as well .

My 2020 Lariat does have the heat shield. I happened to check the spare tire two weeks ago prior to my trip to central Oregon. I just wanted to make sure the tire pressure was good and it was close enough.

I am trying to figure out if the heat shield between the spare tire and exhaust has been deleted by Ford or if my vehicle's was left off by mistake (December 2020 build here).
