I found it very useful to read everyones experience about their transmission issues. So here is mine. I am currently at 69 000km (about 43 000 miles). Glad to still be under warranty.
I experienced hard and delayed upshifts and some downshifts since my first winter with the truck. Got worse and more apparent over time. This winter I got some long slipping upshift from 1 to 3 with big knocks. So I decided to call the dealer to verify that.
They checked it yesterday for diagnosis. They called me back during the day saying they gonna need to keep it one more day because they need to open the transmission to go see what is damaged so they can order the pieces. I asked if they are following the TSB 24-2101 and they said no, that the TSB is just a reprogramming.
I find it odd, I added that it's just the first step of the resolution, that after reprogramming, if it doesn't work, CDF drum is the part needed to be fixed, according to the TSB. He didn't have much to say about it. It's like they don't know the TSB, didn't read it or it's their first in the shop for that issue? That would be surprising since the problem is spread on many Ford vehicles with the 10r80.
I'll be waiting for their call today to find out what they found and give the update.
For now, even though it's weird that they discarded the TSB and need to see for themselves inside the transmission to find the problem, as if they have no clue what it is, at least they confirmed the problem during their roadtest and I I didn't get the classic "could not reproduce the issue". And most of all, still under warranty.
