You guys ruined it.

I was curious to see where this stream of altered consciousness was going.
yeah, it’s obviously getting broken apart now, but have no fear - the journey has just begun ??

So my neighbour just sprayed off their RAV4 in our shared driveway. Of course I have some water spots on my front corner.

So what, my neighbours are awesome. That ain’t nuthin armed with the washing. waxing, etc. ammunition that I’ve learned here.

I’m a fan of hand/spray-washing whenever possible…

So here’s one…

Popped the hood while I was admiring my girl this evening (wanted to make sure she was still clean enough) and noticed this, a broken wire to nowhere. This is from looking at the driver’s side (left side).

If I remember next time I’m by my dealer, which is close fortunately, I’ll have to start popping the hoods of any other Rangers I find and see what’s up.

I don’t have any issues, knocking wood, but wonder what that wire is (was?) for…

First pic is up close, this is just above the battery area, second pic is further back from the engine bay from a driver’s side angle for more perspective.

Mine is the same, so not a broken wire.

Mine looks the same, but the stub is not a cut wire. It is a stiff plastic rod. Maybe a filler for sealing against water intrusion?

So…. had the hood open tonight and noticed/thought 2 things:

1) I’ve read some of the “cold” air intake posts. So I took some pictures because I don’t get how much “colder” air gets in there compared to stock. Once the hood is down, looks like the sealing won’t allow for much more? could this be related to #2 below?

2) holy donuts Batman, there’s like a zillion holes in this hood. Did storm troopers try to shoot for the middle?

3) BONUS: Never even noticed until today that it’s only the driver’s side that the “vents” are open? The passenger side is sealed up? (this is my learned new thing of the day.

Pic #1 (pretty neat aerodynamics for under-hood stock):

3 year warranty will be up next March (I *should* be under mileage). Noticed that my driver’s door looks to be a millimeter lower, and even with, the rear driver’s-side door.

I guess I should make an appointment with my dealer to have a look*

Oh wait, from looking at multiple Ford-owner forums it looks like all the service departments are crazy busy and behind.

/looks at many of the posts of the various forum’s ‘issue’ threads where everyone “feels” there’s an issue…

* just kidding, I won’t bother. Just being silly.

Similar vein, and I’m sure it’s to do with the crappy roads I get to drive on a lot of the time (except that concrete 407), but my goodness, this Ranger drives a lot smoother than the ‘91 short box and even the ‘98 xlt super cab (which was pretty good). It’s a truck, it’s gonna let you know the pavement isn’t so smooth…

edit: wow dumbass, pics below of what I was referring to…

Just in my garage/driveway tonight, and watched two cars drive off from their visits in the neighborhood without their lights on (no rears). Fu$k I hate that. It’s dark outside now.

Honda and Toyota seem to be the worst offender’s…
