Looking good Scott! Good choice on wheel/offset:wink:

What do you mean by Cowl intake?

I'm not yet sure it's possible but want to look into it. On a Tacoma you can reroute your air intake to pull from the base of the windshield instead of the front of the grille. The intake isn't of course as high as a proper snorkel but you'd have to do a water crossing so high it crested your windshield which I will never do. This kid Ripcord has a video on YouTube about it (I'll find a link later but you can likely find it yourself). I do not love the look of a snorkel, it feels too ostentatious and I'm not yet doing enough to justify it's presence but there lies the rub; am I not doing this because I don't have the gear? Once gotten, would I suddenly find more reasons to use it? I dunno. I dislike this aspirational model of kitting out ones rig for every imaginable contingency, and then never doing anything with it. If I have it, it's because I use it. Or aim to. A cowl intake, if it can be done in a Ranger, sounds like a good compromise. We shall see.

Looks awesome. Tell me about those racks on the back. Not sure what they are for, fat tire bikes?

Are the racks permanent or easy to remove?

Thanks.

They're bike racks with clearance for large volume tires. Like mountain bikes, fat bikes, or any 650b bike. It's all Yakima - whatever their lowest profile truck bed solution is, that's this. I don't recall the name of them now but it's not hard to find. Easy to remove? Eh. Sorta. The mounting isn't permanent if that's what you mean. But you wouldn't want to pop them on/off all the time, that would get tedious fast. A practiced person who had everything marked off could likely dismantle in 15 minutes, and remount in 30.

Pic of where you mounted your micro mobile? Antenna placement? I have one in my F150 and found that placing the antenna behind the backseat headrest didn't give up any significant range vs sticking it on top.

Right now the radio is in the glove and I have a length of Cat5 dangled out of there and tucked into my console that I'm plugging the handset into. This weekend I'm wiring it in properly. If you've seen me about in the wiring part of the forum last few days asking questions, that's why.

I'm a fan of the micromobiles. I pondering adapting a ditch light bracket for an antenna. Got to mount the lights first and see what material I have left to work with.

I have ditch light brackets coming. Frankly I'll just scooch this over and prob leave it as-is.
Nice truck setup. But as far as antenna/mount, etc. First, those type of antennas suck mounted there. I have tried that mount for my uhf/vhf amateur radio, my scanner, etc and it can barely pick up the weather station. You're on the right track if that is your choice for mounting using a nmo mount. Gives you flexibility to switch out antennas. I ended up using a typical antenna made by Tram that works well. I also use a lip mount but not fixed. You want to be able to plumb it out. OK, so I've got a lil' ocd, but it looks better....
Mount (also a sim mount on the other side for my cb antenna): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RBNVVZZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Antenna: (Of which I have several different): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IDTJ2KE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Added mine yesterday, how's your reception?

Reception is pretty good but you're right, not optimal. Like the rest, was fast and easy and clean enough until I can get things going more permanent. I have a Vagabond Drifter on build next month. You can Google it but it's a popup wedge camper. I'm waiting on that to do proper antenna install, at which point I'll put the antenna on the top lip of the camper which will be on a good place when it's packed down and a REAL good place when I stop and open up the wedge, where it'll then be at the top of this 15 foot tower.

Until then, I have an additional 6db whip antenna I can swap on in a pinch.
