so i decided to change the engine air filter today and got a ford 1943 filter from dealer. went out and disconnected the sensor, undid the 3 clips and pulled cover off slightly and swapped old with new. Putting the cover back on i bumped the reservoir return line slightly and it sprayed collant... i pushed it back and it stopped.

how did this happen? i thought you had to depress a button first then pull?

i had the service advisor come out and he said it was just how it's designed. he pulled on it and it sprayed, pushed and stopped. he didn't depress anything.

is this how this is supposed to work? i plan on going out once it cools and removing the reservoir cap then try removing the hose to see how it work exactly.

i don't have much confidence in the quick connect if all it takes for a leak is to pull it slightly.

thoughts?

its a 50/50 they either pop off without being touched or you have to cut them off when you need to remove them, I have a Chevy 1500 that every time we open the hood we have to replace a hose because of a disconnect LOL
I have found they sell some really nice aftermarket Stainless steel ones that seem to be good on amazon for the heater core that goes through the firewall, it sucks to have to worry about little shit like this on Brand New Trucks
why why why

It's just a tight area trying to fit the top of the air filter box under the coolant lines. If it was hot, was probably pressurized so it sprayed when bumped/moved

I have not had the issue, just careful when changing the filter. I was more worried about breaking off the cheap plastic coming off the reservoir than the hose
