Hello All,

I have a 2020 Ranger XL STX. It currently has a factory radio that does not contain a touch screen display or any other features such as navigation, apple carplay etc. I was looking into upgrading to an aftermarket radio. Crutchfield makes a very nice conversion kit which allows me to retain function of my backup camera and steering wheel controls. My only concern is my remote start which currently works through the ford pass app. Does anyone know if the remote start module is through the headunit or if it is independent. Wiring diagrams would be helpful if anyone has them. Thanks!

I think there is a seperate telecommunications module in the trucks, so I guess it's not tied to the head unit.

The head unit is isolated from your remote start system, no issue there. That head unit is just an audio interface with steering wheel control and factory backup camera inputs.

I really like metra products, here are installation instructions using the metra kit. Really good products and support. http://metraonline.com/files/products/INST99-5857B_web.pdf

Don't use a universal or programmable interface for steering wheel controls, there are a couple brands that will integrate ford factory input > aftermarket like https://axxessinterfaces.com/product/AXTC-FD2

Hope this helps

I have the same exact spec ranger as you, 2020 STX with the 4 inch sync. What I recommend is doing a 4 to 8 inch sync upgrade from 4d tech. If you have the extra money to spend, its the best upgrade option out there. It retains OEM look, and retains all your trucks settings, hotspot, remote start/stop, etc. I got mine from 4d tech ill attach a link below. Install was very easy as the parts are all OEM, it was a simple plug and play for everything. They will even pay you for your old headunit!

They make a seriously quality product. Everything is oem except a wiring harness. Works amazing too.
