Hi Ranger5g Fam,

I noticed yesterday that the paint on my 2.5 year old BakFlip MX4 is peeling up in one spot. It looks like something got under the paint when the black paint/finish was applied. I love this cover but I am a bit surprised and disappointed to see this. I believe the metal underneath is aluminum, and I am worried about it rusting.

I already messaged REALTRUCK and I am hopeful they will support me under warranty. For the time being, please let me know if you have any advice for painting over this myself. I was thinking a little bit of truck bed coating. Or perhaps some plastidip - but I would need to be able to paint it on ideally, not spray it.

Thanks,

Just an FYI, aluminum does not rust. It usually corrodes and will form a layer of aluminum oxide. I hope Real Trucks can do something for you. I had my eye on that cover.

Just wanted to share a quick update — RealTruck/Bakflip is the real deal!

I sent them the photos I posted above on Monday, and within two days they confirmed shipping me a brand new cover. I honestly can’t recommend this company enough. I've loved the cover and now I love the company.

Even though the serial number sticker had come off my cover, it wasn’t an issue at all. They didn’t hassle me, didn’t make it complicated — just great customer service all around.

It’s not totally clear to me how RealTruck and Bakflip are connected, but I still wanted to give them a well-deserved shoutout. This company truly stands behind their products!

They're owned by the same parent company. Gator(what I've had on my ranger and now frontier), pace, extang, ect are made made in the same main factory. Only real difference is logo branding and minimal differences in material(hence prices).

Good to see they're doing you a solid.
