7 pin issues

I have the towing package on my ranger. The right turn signal when using the 7 pin doesn't work, it did randomly once but hasn't worked since. It works fine using the 4 pin. Also, my trailer brake module I can hear clicking (like a relay working) when pressing the brake (redarc elite installed) and when trying turn signals is this normal?

I have an appt scheduled at the dealer, but they are two weeks out. Is there something simple this could be? Im guessing its the trailer module since it works intermittently/clicks and the 4 pin is working fine.

Loose connector inside the plug, or corroded? Both very common. I haven't checked thr fuse box but maybe there is a fuse blown. Unlikely but worth a look. Also did you use a tester or try another trailer?

Yes I tried two different trailers both of which work on other trucks. Ill check for a bad connection behind the 7 pin but the trailer module had all good connections

I have never heard a brake controler click. Might be a ground loop through the trailer as the brake and turn lights on the trailer are the same lights. Also with a trailer module there are no fuses for the trailer lights, solid state fused in the module. I second trying a different trailer, as it may be a ground issue with wiring on the trailer. You are getting all the trailer connected warnings when using the 7-pin, correct?

Unfortunately it sounds like a trip to the dealer. Hopefully they can get a module if that's the problem.

The dealer checked it out. I tried 2 different trailers both of which work on other trucks. The 7 pin and 4 pin were working for the dealer.

The dealer said they have had issues with 18+ ford trucks not working with trailers equipped with LED lights. This is because the truck senses no resistance and then shuts off that circuit. They have had work arounds of installing resistors in the trailer wiring and on super duties programming the truck to ignore bulb out issues.

They are looking to see if they are able to program the truck as well (likely not on the rangers) and I could install a resistor on the trailer however if I use any other 7-pin trailer I dont want to be caught surprised with no right turn signal.
