What’s interesting is that the Maverick is similar in size as the previous Generation (Gen 4) of the Ranger. Our Gen 5 Rangers that we have now are about the size of the Gen 9 - 11 Ford F-150’s. Everything grew.

I have 2019 XL with
  • Equipment Group 101A
  • STX
  • FX4
  • Copilot 360
  • Sliding rear window(used once when I locked my keys in the truck)
  • trailer tow package
MSRP was $36,755

I tried building a similarly equipped 6G and ended up with an XLT around 45,000.

It's paid off only had it first problem (driveshaft carrier bearing) this past week ... desire to upgrade eliminated.

I have built a 2024 Ranger several times and the price goes up every time I do. I paid 38k for my 2019 XLT Crewcab 4x4 and locking diff and auto climate control no nav. With the 2024 to get the same truck, I HAVE to get options I don't want and the price tag is in the mid 45k range that's F ing ridiculous. Anyone who has looked at the 6gen Ranger knows this is just a refresh for all those old enough to remember the New Edge Mustang the supposed 6gen Ranger is really a New Edge Ranger.
After all that I've said and considering the fact that Ford can't or won't fix the problems with their electronic I.E. the infortainment system I'm unfortunately being forced to look at a different brand.
Ford couldn't fix or didn't want to fix the infortaianment system in the wifes 2021 Bronco Sport so now she has a 2024 Honda Passport I'll probably give a hard look the Nissan Frontier.

I'm sorry to say that Fords astronomical MSRP increases along with the coinciding and matching drop in QC has forced me to look elsewhere and I have bought only new Fords for 30 plus years.

I didn't leave Ford, Ford left me.

You'd have to look in the international market to find what you're looking for. The North American market is to blame. We're gluttonous pigs that want and will keep buying bigger trucks with every button available and the most horsepower, all the airbags, etc..

We complain on the forums, but these new, expensive vehicles are what the people want.

What goes up must come down.
Jeep is underperforming- 250,0000 fewer Wrangers sold worldwide year over year, F-150 is soft, Bronco is wilting. But Maverick has sold 90,000 so far this year; a nearly 70% increase over last year. Value sells; who knew? I was at my dealer yesterday for an alignment and wandered the lot, looking at the window stickers. There was a Maverick Lariat for about $36,200, next to a Ranger Lariat that was $9,400 more. The Mav has almost the same interior volume as the Ranger. Makes me wonder if an extra foot of box is worth that much, as I don't seem to haul much more than a bicycle or lawn chairs these days. Bronco? Fugettaboutit. $70K with a cloth top. $48K XL F150s.

My 69,000mi Ranger alignment completed, I smiled as I walked up to it. Hitting the Unlock button on the fob, the parking lights flashed a smile back.

Chris for $9,400 you could rent a U-Haul (truck or van) a couple times a year when needed and still be ahead. These prices are getting WAY out of hand now and I hope every single manufacturer feels the pain like Jeep/Stellantis is right now. I'm all for companies making a profit but ever since Covid it's been nothing but constant increases and corporate greed!

I feel these new trucks are trying to keep up with Mercedes for tech. It's a truck, not a luxury sedan. I will say my 2021 XLT has the perfect amount of tech for me. That is why I actually really like the Gen 2 Raptors if I do move into an F150. I feel like with the new Ranger they forced it too much, they cant put the screen horizontal like the new F150 so they put it vertical. They should have just made the screen smaller. I have seen people break screens like that doing stupid stuff when I worked at a Benz dealer.

Aside from corp greed I have heard over the years that the auto unions are a part of the high vehicle prices. Who knows though, can be their escape goat too. Then your hear how they lost money on every Lightning they sold, they had to recover that somewhere so they probably passed that cost along to other model vehicles.

Remember: The auto manufacturers made more money than ever before in the past few years. Low production vehicles like the Lightning cannot possibly explain high vehicle prices across the market.

At the end of the day it's corporate profits tied with public demand for more "stuff" in their vehicles. More features means more cost and the OEMs will never surrender profits.

Edit: The unions were absolutely correct to place their demands following record breaking profits in automotive sales. Still also does not account for vehicle prices.

i'd be lying if i said i wasn't peeping at other trucks. namely a nissan titan. really just would like a larger bed for the motos in the bed. then this week nissan announces they'll be expanding the trim access to crew cabs + 6ft beds on the frontier. previously it was only the lower trim, now all of them have the option. so a pro-4x cc+6ft bed. add to that that the frontier is typically a cheaper truck, you'll have to forgive me for being tempted.

@AzScorpion is right tho, a lot cheaper to just get a trailer and keep the 19 Ranger...

It's Mfr's whipsaw reaction to the market thatis at least partly responsible for today's pricing. Corporate think is still mired in 10-day sales trends, so costly misreads of the market result:
Rideshare!! that's it! we'll invest $100 million in subscriptions and e-scooter companies!
No that's not it...
Autonomous vehicles!! this will be big!! We'll buy a bunch of startups, merge'em together and create the world's first driverless rideshare subscription concept...
no that ain't it either...
BEVs'!! w'ell build two 4 million sq ft plants in TN and crank out 300,000+ BEVs a year to a....to a... waiting market... BEVs don't sell now?
Hybrids!! that's the ticket!! put two powertrains in everything!!

There might be a 2dr hardtop or convertible in the inventory next spring...

I'd like to have a nice 2dr hardtop but if auto manufacturers did build one it would be too expensive and the QC on it would make you regret buying it.
