Hit 50k and decided to do some preventive actions and checks.

Along with the oil change I decided to pull the plugs and see how they look after 50k

Not to much corona staining and maybe some MMA staining on the tips.(I think thats what its called)

Since I had the plugs out decided to look at the pistons. Have Techron in the tank when I did this oil change and I think this is why my pistons are wet and clean:)

I think the pistons look good for running 91 alcohol free gas most of the 50k.
On to the next thing.
Since I had the bore scope out I decided look at a couple of things with it like inside the oil pan and the cam lobes below the oil fill.

I hope thats flashing back in the corner.

I'm guessing I'm looking at the balance cassette here.

Some how a piece of lint got on that first lobe. But have to wonder if the surface of these look normal for 50k?
While I was at it I decided to replace my fan clutch sensor hose with some fuel hose.

One less thing to worry about :)
Went and hooked the scanner up to see if any codes were present and look at couple of different things.
Seem to come across some glitch codes now and then.

Truck is running great at 50k and looks clean inside. Need to take it in and get the transmission fluid changed.
Would like to get 300k out of this truck.
Well time for work I'll check back later.

LOL me too, all the dirt and grime must be stuck to it because the oil looks and feels good :)
I do change the filter every 20k the first one was amsoil then Fram ultra
I had a toyota R22 that went 73k I never opened the hood to even see if the engine was still there, a light comes on when a fluid is low right?

You know I was looking at my replacement hose pic and it looks like I have a seal failure on my idler pulley bearing.

There is no low oil level light in the Ranger. If the low oil pressure light comes on, engine damage is already occurring. I think for the cost of an oil change, you would be smart to do 5,000 mile oil changes. It is much cheaper than gambling on engine failure.

I would rather save all that money from not changing my oil every two months and buy a truck with less miles on it...
