265/70R17 Potential Problem?

I just got some Michelin Defender LTX M/S in 265/70R17 installed yesterday. I was looking under my truck earlier and it seems like the UCAs might be contacting a little while driving.
I’m on a 2.5inch level and when the truck is sitting it looks like I have a half an inch on clearance between the UCA and the sidewall.
Could it just be because they’re brand new or from hard-braking? Or maybe an alignment issue?

Don’t let me steer you away! Plenty of people are running that size on stock wheels, I just think I’m overthinking something… I’ll attach pics a little bit later.

Hmmm, same size as a lot of folks on here are running on their stock wheels and 2-1/2” level with no issues - even when off-roading. Odd.

If they aren’t touching when stopped, they won’t touch when moving. Nothing affects the footprint of the tire at the top. Are you seeing rub marks?

I run 265/70/17's on stock wheels with a 1.8" lift an no problems here

so i cant comment on your situation but i can say i ran 265 70 17 bone stock no lift or level of any kind on road and off road with zero issues or rubbing. not just a dirt road or gravel i mean like actual off road full flex front and rear mud sand crossing rivers etc. if you have control arms or something rubbing or tires contacting then something is out of whack with your truck my friend.

this is 100 percent stock wheels and all on 265 70 17s. no rubbing no issues. got about 19 k miles that way.

The distinct grey-ish line around the tire is what I was talking about earlier. It looks like something might be contacting but I don’t see where it would…

Are both tires doing that? It actually looks like a “heat ring” which happens what the tire is low pressure and “folds” on itself and heats up enough to eat the rubber away.

it also looks too low to be hitting the knuckle. I would recommend taking it to where you had them installed and have them figure out what’s going on. They’ll know instantly if it’s a heat ring, when they dismount the tire. Otherwise, they can figure out what it’s contacting.

That's just the stuff the manufacturer coats the tire sidewall with to protect the raised white letters during transit. Tire place generally washes it off after mounting tires to wheels. Nothing to worry about that I see. Enjoy the new tires!

the blue is the protective coating, it’s hard to diagnose over the internet, but the ring leads me to recommend having it looked at in person.
