I am getting aftermarket wheels and will put the factory General off-road tires on those, so I took advantage of a deal at Pep Boys for Buy 3 Get 1 + Free Installation on these Kuhmo Crugen HT55 tires. They're effectively the same as the HT51s, but apparently a model only Pep Boys sells. They have a 70,000 mile warranty. I put Crugen HT51s on a Dodge Durango Citadel I had for a while (inherited it, nice SUV) and really liked them, so I was comfortable grabbing the HT55s (same tread). Pep Boys also gave me free roadside assistance for a year (which I already have... but, cool).
Compared to the Generals, predictably these are smoother on the road, much quieter (not that the Generals were intolerably loud), and I'm seeing (and was expecting) slightly improved gas mileage given they are about 10 lbs. lighter each, according to my brief internet sleuthing. The truck certainly feels slightly peppier similar to when I put my Rays 57extreme ultralight wheels on my Mustang compared to the stock wheels (which which a g'dam metric ton). I'm also looking forward to not picking up and throwing every stone on the ground onto my paint over time and preserving the Generals (which are much more expensive).
Aesthetics-wise, yeah... I lose the "cool factor" of off-road tires, but I don't care. I'll have aftermarket wheels with off-road tires for a purpose, not show and tell.
