What other laws is my curiosity?
And Ford knows where the truck is at all times , if I cross over, turn on or off whatever needs turned on or off , unless there is a mechanical difference between the two ? If it's just lights , seems like an easy fix ...
vehicle import and export laws the order guides show standard features and all options they are a complete breakdown of everything so they have to be exact because canada has different requirements and those laws as does the us they make a separate order guide even though the difference is literally one or two things in the long run its easier for everyone involved and avoids a lot of headaches. from a consumer perspective it seems silly and thats understandable but from their end its the logical thing to do cause we don't have to deal with all the bs they do

Just seems silly that a single Ranger can't handle both sides if the border , especially when both drive on the same side of the road , nor sure how different these requirements are and who they actually benefit ? ?

They benefit the government lol. I completely agree with you but the difference is when it reaches us it can but in order to be imported and sold it has to jump through hoops. Its the government of course its arduous stupid and makes no sense lol

Dealer just called and told me 2023 order banks are open in Canada. Not sure if it is different for the US.

Canadian-spec Rangers cannot be ordered, for example, as a 2-door (non SuperCab), can't be ordered in 2wd, lowest available trim level is higher (and costs more) in Canada, etc. And yes, some laws are different, eg. DRL. Options and configurations are also more limited in Canada.

I don't know this for a fact, but I have long suspected that due to our lower population and population density, Ford Canada and it's dealers limit overhead costs by limiting options. Consequently, our lowest spec Rangers cost us more than in the U.S., even after currency exchanges are factored.

Also, new U.S.-spec Rangers cannot be registered in Canada (I tried) and new Canadian-spec Rangers cannot be registered in the U.S. (as per the window sticker). I don't know who limits this (Ford or gov't).

However, used vehicles are okay to import/export between Canada and the U.S., even if they are a few months old (unlike importing from overseas).

YMMV

With the push for F150's and the new Maverick, and the short run of NA 5G, I would not at all be surprised to hear the 6G not available in NA.

What info are you looking for? maybe I can save you a drive
I don't mind the drive, it's right down the street from me but thanks. According to them, both the Maverick Raptor and Ranger order banks are pushed back to 9/2. So good news I didn't miss out, but I have to wait a month lol.

I could see that globally , right hand drive and such , but Canada ? Thats just right up the road a bit , how damn different can it be ? US/Canada version should be as simple as a setting on your display ... imo...
Ford Canada is roughy 1/10 the market size of the US. There are pluses and minuses for both markets when it comes to content.
Besides the spelling differences in the Great White North; "colour", "centre," etc , here are most if not all the differences that I was able to pick out while watching the Twins beat the Tigers 3-5:
  • No Jungle Splash (CAN)
  • Auto start stop delete code 51D req. (when not avail US)// on all orders (CAN)
  • NO Dealer Inst. Options DIO on XL (CAN)
  • Lariat SuperCrew only, no Lariat SuperCab (CAN)
  • XLT SuperCrew has rear armrest (CAN) None (US)
  • Lariat: 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot Removal Note: Required on all orders when option is not available due to chip supply issues (CAN) not listed (US)
  • Lariat: Halogen Headlamps (Replaces LED Headlamps with Halogen Headlamps and LED Fog Lamps replaced with Halogen Fog Lamps) Note: Required option when LED Headlamps are not available due to chip supply issues (CAN) not listed (US)
Sometimes in the first edition(s), there might be some typos or omissions in either guide, a correction sheet follows. The dealer Order Guides are the last word, surpassing all advertising, brochures, and dealer claims.

hell , they can make them state specific i guess , just seems like all trivial stuff to me and not enough to justify different versions when software can fix it... left hand drive and right hand drive is where i would split them .. but oddly , my input was not requested ...
