This is a topic of interest to me. I have been looking at Rangers from time to time and I would be willing to buy one for the right price. Honestly, I have not tried to seriously negotiate on one yet, but from what I have seen, the Phoenix dealers are not as reasonable as I would like them to be.

I was in Chapman Ford in Scottsdale, AZ last month looking at a 2020 XLT Crew Cab FX4. They wanted to X-Plan the Ranger and then apply the $1,750 rebate towards the dealer add-ons. LOL, they valued the following at $2600, but were willing to reduce the price to $1,750. Would you pay $1750 for the following?

$1197 Desert Protection package – wax job, ceramic tint, nitrogen filled tires, door edge guard.

$699 KARR Security System

$699 Spray in bed liner

Of the items in the above add-ons list, the only two that would be of value to me are the tint and the bed liner. I have never priced these out, but I’ll guess the tint is @ $350 and the bedliner is @ $500. My son and I just walked out. Not sure the salesman appreciated that.

Then a few weeks later, Surprise Ford sends me an email that they want my trade in, which they thought was a 2017 Mustang GT. Instead, I enter the information for a 2011 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 with low miles and tell them I am interested in a Ranger. LOL, the instant trade-in offer comes back at $13,600. I will admit that I did find that offer entertaining. A 4x4 Tacoma with a clean title at that price would set a CraigsList record for fastest sale. That evening I am trying to watch a college basketball game and my phone keeps on buzzing. They want to set up an appointment to purchase the Tacoma from me and possibly discuss a Ranger. I guess they were not too happy withy my response to their reasonable trade-in offer.
That’s funny because we just bought my wife a 2018 Mazda CX-9 and the dealer we bought it from in Sacramento was great. Funny part is they only charge $200 for that KARR security system

When I bought my 2019 in April of last year, there was no Rangers to be found anywhere. I know the dealership well, (family has been using the same one for years), I was able to get the one I wanted. But even with low inventory, because the pandemic auto sales had basically come to a halt and I was able to get some great incentives combined with my recent college graduate certificate from Ford for an $500.

Jim you can try Sanderson Ford. I talked to one of their salesman at the off road show back in December and he said they don't do dealer add ons. He was trying to talk me into getting my Bronco with them and said they can just about beat anyones deal with no dealer add ons and msrp. I told him I'm getting mine at invoice plus $2K off that and no dealer add ons, he said yeah I can't beat that one. lol His name is Travis Smith and he was really nice and knowledgeable didn't seem like your typical pushy salesman. Might be worth giving him a call if there are good incentives coming.

Thanks! No dealer add ons is a huge plus in my book.

What really gets me is I picked mine up beginning of December. Total discounts came to about $4700.

Now even at the same dealer as I got mine the discount totals comes to about $1750.

Not going to move many trucks with that carrot ?

I've seen a few others on the Bronco forum confirm this too, they've bought other vehicles from there. Just tell him you talked to him at the off road show at Westworld back in Dec he'll never remember with all the people there. Plus they did have a Ranger there on display and he is leasing a Ranger now. There's enough info to prove you were at the show. ?

Doesn't seem to me like there are a whole lot of Rangers on lots right now. And they just aren't discounted.

This all reads to me like "We didn't make that many Rangers this year... and we sold half of them for full price."

Gotta have money and an income before any incentives work.
Terry, buying that damn tailgate damper set me back a pretty penny. I should be able to get my head above water in several more months. No trying to be "Just like Dave" anymore. That's nearly put me in the poor house. :bandit:

Back on track....One of the Car rental agencies (probably Hertz) has dumped a ton of their Ranger fleet on the market in my area. Dealers are asking nearly the same price that you can get a new one for as of now. It's amazing, the selling prices of used Rangers in my area of the southeast are nearly at the same percentage level as a used Jeep Wrangler.

Says the guy who cost me $40K with a Bronco. ?

I would've never bought one just yet if it weren't for the Granger deal you told me about. ;)

Saw the same thing myself. Used Rangers with 30ish K on them going at low end of new. I’m shaking my head like, say what! ?

I didn't see this posted yet so hopefully it's not a repeat. Surprised that the Ranger has over 50% of their 2020 models unsold still. You'd think there would be some great deals/rebates coming soon with this many still sitting unsold?

Ford Canada is currently offering a $2,000 CDN ($1,575 USD) 'Delivery Allowance' on 2020 Ranger XLs and $3,500 CDN ($2,756 USD) on XLTs and Lariats.

Desert Protection Package is way overpriced for those simple items.

Is that a Karr Security System ? Or Karr Vehicle Recovery System ?
The Desert Protection Package is just additional dealer markup. I just found it entertaining that they were trying to steal the Ford rebate with the dealer add ons, of which the desert protection package was the biggest.

It was a Karr security system - an alarm. It is a Walmart quality alarm at best. The most annoying thing about it is that they hack into the vehicle wiring to install it and drill a hole in the dash for the light. The dealer should be ashamed for trying to push a piece of junk like that.

Thanks for the info. Now I just need to convince my wife this is a good idea now.
