I am kinda freaking out right now on mine, on a recent tank fill, trip reader is avg 16.5 mpg! Haven't had it that low since I got it.
Ive gotten as low as ~16mpg with a tank that was only city commute driving.

That is quite a drop! I usually notice a drop in mileage come fall as the weather gets colder and the air pressure in the tires falls, which creates a lot more rolling resistance. It could be something else, of course, but I would start looking at the air pressure and taking it up higher than usual to compensate.
I added air, I was down, and back up to 32's.

Mine has definitely taken a hit too the last couple days - cooler temps along with going to a 265/70R17 winter tire explains it though!

Well I got pretty bad mpg on my trip Saturday. So colder temps bring worse mpg? It was about 60 going and 50 coming back. What about 77 mph? Can you get decent mpg doing 77?
Well, cooler temps mean the engine needs to run at higher RPM longer and use more fuel to warm up. At least in my mind. I'm sure there are other things going on as well. But to get an engine up to temp from -40F, it takes quite a bit of energy and thus fuel.

As for the speed, it definitely affects the mileage quite a bit. At highway speeds (60mph) I usually see 28-29mpg on level road. Same type of level road at 70mph, it sits around 25-26mpg. On the freeway (75-80mph), I'll see it drop all the way to 22-23mpg on level road. So this power-train is very affected by small changes in variables, which is obvious in other changes.

It definitely doesn’t help. The tank before was my normal fuel mileage and this time I only topped up about 1/4 tank but I’m sure that’s enough to affect it!

I did think with mostly around town, mileage would be better than what I am getting, but it has been increasing.
My driving has been 95% around town and mpgs have been only 16.5, 17.8, 18.7...The 24.2 showing was a round trip To SanDiego (90% highway) drive.

All highway, Fort Pierce to Fort Lauderdale. ACC set to 70 MPH. Heavy stop n' go traffic. Tire pressure at 36 psi. Very impressed with mileage, to say the least.

Has anyone experimented with going back and forth before Drive and Sport? My daily commute includes a fair amount of fairly steep rolling hills. For the first few days I used Drive exclusively and it really seems like it took the transmission a quite a bit of stress before it down shifted for the short climbs.

Today I ran in Sport mode to and from work and it seemed like it maintained a better (higher, obv) RPM range for the rolling hills and I think it averaged better mileage.

I actually got a chance to use both when we went up to Sedona last month. It's all uphill from the valley (1000'-5000') and a lot of hilly terrain once there. I run sport mode around town quite a bit but I noticed too that through the hills I got a little better mpg's which I think is because it's not lugging through the gears in drive.

There's a few smaller towns we went to with some pretty steep inclines where I ran sport but manually shifted and really liked the way it handled because you can control your shifts. Drive seems fine when there's only a few rolling hills or smaller mountains but when you're in them for a good distance I think sport is the way to go. Plus it's more fun! :like:
