Hi folks

Got my ranger 3 days ago, has 70,000 miles on it and all of a sudden yesterday this weird knocking noise from the engine has appeared, it sounds like the valves tapping but I'm really not sure? It speeds up under load, and has a very similar sound to as if you could hear a jackhammer in the distance.

If anything it sounds like its coming just to the right of the engine (facing the bay)

Is it anything to worry about? If so ill go back to the garage

I've also got a tapping from the rear that's quite loud, coming from what looks like the pipe past the muffler, also attached

*Note, my videos aren't uploading for some reason*

you have only had it 3 days?
72 hours putting 70k on it, I think you were speeding?
I think a search of the forum there are others hearing a Tapping sound also....
Tapping from the back could be brakes?

Hey dude, no it was 70k miles used when I purchased it.

I'm thinking it's injector or valve rocker-related, as it's very similar to that type of noise, and the truck keeps hesitating when using cruise control, its like the power dips for a split second which im assuming is an injector either clogged, faulty or not getting enough voltage and stopping spraying for a millisecond or so

I've added it to YouTube, the sound is louder in-person, my mic doesn't really pick up the full extent. I'll upload one that's in the cab too soon

Sorry, what's DTC?

"In the context of cars, DTC stands for Diagnostic Trouble Code, a standardized alphanumeric code generated by a vehicle's onboard diagnostic (OBD) system to indicate a specific problem or malfunction."

Ah I thought that mightve been what he meant, I was just a bit confused

But running through OBD there are no error codes at all
