Ford has been trying to figure out an issue with my remote start. On several occasions I’ve tried to use my remote start and it failed. Just a red light on the fob. When I get in the truck I try to push start it but almost nothing happens. The push start light flashes and the truck doesn’t respond. No radio no cranking sound nothing but the flashing push button. It takes several minutes of just sitting in the truck opening and shutting the door trying to get it to reset. When I finally get the truck started I’ll get a generic power train fault. The dealership has replaced two “communication modules” but can’t fix the issue.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance

My remote starter does something vaguely similar. If I remote start, I can be 50' away and it doesn't do anything. It might take 4-5 tries and it might start. Once I walk out towards the truck it makes a noise (you know the noise) and then it will remote start just fine. The fordpass app doesn't have the same problem as it starts almost immediately after I hold the button down.

I have an XLT, so the key always starts it once I get in.

Interesting. Ya. I wish I could put a key in and crank it over. (First world lariat problems!). I can sit in my truck and try to start it with the remote start and it won’t work once it starts with the issue.

If you're trying to remote start and the key fob gives you a red light, that just means that you are out of range. The range is super short, so move closer and try again. Some vehicles don't like to be remote started with a valid key fob in the vehicle, or even when a key fob is within proximity of the vehicle reading it.
