“Glue” for Rubber Ends of Tonneau Cover

Hey all,

Looking at about 18 months outside for the truck now, and just over the past few weeks I’m noticing that the “end rubber” (towards the back of the bed) trim on my tri-fold tonneau cover is not adhering. What kind of “glue” or substitute would I be looking for to seal it down? Any thoughts?

Want it to be flush down again, but not sure what would be the adhesive I need?

Not quite sure, I’ve been using the back/last flap a lot lately (has the “strings” you pull down on to release the clips). I *think* I didn’t latch properly in that side and left it out of alignment for a bit. The stuff you linked (Thank You) is more f a caulking than a glue though. I’d like to start with something like a glue first if possible...

I encourage to check it out anyhow. It comes in a tube like caulk but it's much tougher than caulk. Let it dry with a weight on it to keep it down. This is not the stuff you see on tv, its usually found at building supple stores. I have used tubes and tubes of it. What ever you use make sure the surface is clean. More info.

Auto store will have automotive adhesive.
Should have a product for sealant/adhesive.
Can come is clear and black. Remove excess with acetone or mineral spirits.

@SymChris I had the same thing happen on my G2 that I had on my 2013 Ram....mind you, it was about 7-8 yrs old by this time. I removed all the previous 3M tape first, then cleaned it with some acetone and let it dry. Then I used some 3M VHB double sided tape after applying 3M Adhesion Promoter and letting it dry. It lasted 2+ years and I had to do the same thing to my new "Ford G2" tonneau cover with the same problem the you're is having. Almost a year now and it's doing fine. The key is the adhesion promoter

Butyl tape, sticky as all get out. Formable, weather tight, and removable if needed.

Hello Chris

Have you ever thought of calling the manufacturer of this cover and inquire of a replacement for the one rail. Hey they may even warranty this for you.
Just be honest if they ask you any questions. It works wonders
