There is no dedicated brake lamp line in the trailer harness. The 7 pin uses a left signal/brake and right signal/brake. The Echo activates only when both of these lines are active. This is so the unit is not activated by the signals, however because of this the unit can be activated by the...
Here's what I did.
The Ford/Redarc controller only needs 4 leads.
- 12+ from the battery
- Ground
- Brake signal from CHMSL
- TBC blue output
The ground and CHMSL connections can be handled inside the cabin. The two wires I had to run manually were the +12V battery and the TBC output.
For the...
When in doubt start with the basics.
-Take the trailer at travel weight and get it weighed.
-Arrange your gear so that 10-15% of the trailer's weight is on the ball(this can be done with a bathroom scale and some 2x4s.
-Follow the WDH manufacturer's guide to setup the hitch.
-The trucks...
Brake fluid has wet and dry boiling temps. The DOT system has minimum ratings but they can vary wildly in their temperature ratings from brand to brand especially DOT 4.
DOT 3 is min dry 400F; wet 285F
DOT 4 is min dry 450F; wet 310F
DOT 5.1 is min dry 500F; wet 350F
DOT 5.1 is Hygroscopic...
I'm guessing we're talking about the synthesized engine note. If so, then yes there are apps that allow you to play different exhaust tones via bluetooth through the stereo. They need an wifi or bluetooth obd2 dongle.
Do with this information what you will.
Ignition and gas cap were trashed. It was missing a couple component covers and bolts. Needed a new battery. The tips of both levers were broken, and 3 out of 4 signals were broken. I'm probably in around $400 for parts, fluid changes and maintenance, but the bike is pretty much back to brand...
Just got my first motorcycle. Managed to snag a '21 KTM Duke 390, 2500 miles for $2,000 at an insurance auction for theft recovery.
It's definitely a bad time of year to try to get into a MSF course. Every class near me is booked for weeks. I managed to find an open spot about 2.5 hours away.
Your truck would throw a wrench light and go into reduced power mode if it were getting too hot. A little bump in the swing of the temp gauge is nothing to be concerned about.
Yes, electronic trailer braking systems aren't without issue, but If you are sizing your trailer based on what the tow vehicle can safely stop, you probably shouldn't be pulling over 2,000lbs with a Ranger.
The main issue with travel trailers is surface area and length. A big thing with "half...
That power plant in a 6000# truck with a smaller puller than on the GT500. I can't imagine what all Ford is going to have to do to keep that thing cool. IIRC the GT500 has 6-7 heat exhangers. I suppose there is a bunch more real estate to work with on a truck than a sports car.
Likely, something is mis-wired or there is a short somewhere. Are the TBC and trailer brakes functioning correctly in forward. The unit glows red when it's applying brakes, so if your brakes are locking with it in the blue state, there's likely something other than the TBC sending voltage to the...
The Tow-Pro works in forward and reverse. Are you saying the brakes are engaging while braking in reverse, or they are engaging as soon as you shift into reverse.
What element or principle of physics would dictate you add weight to a truck bed in order to more safely tow a heavy trailer? I'm always up to learn.
Funny enough trucks with the highest towing capacity and payload regardless of their class are typically base model, small cab, long box and...
Improper tongue weight, exceeding weight ratings, and general unsafe towing practices are what typically cause trailering accidents.
Removing weight off the steering axle is why it's generally recommended that you strongly consider a WDH as you start getting past 500lbs on the tongue on 1/2...
Why would you want added weight over the rear axle of a truck to tow a trailer or haul a heavy load? The trailer and/or load puts weight over the rear axle. Having unnecessary weight just takes away from payload.
Yes, A standard trailer brake controller absolutely will not turn on the trailer brake lights...... Neither will Ford's TBC, because they trailer brake controller does not control the trailer's brake lights. The trailer's brake lights will come on with the truck's brake light, as they normally do.
