Thank you guys for adding that function and preventing a trip to a dealership. Once I found the tool/option, super easy to use. Assuming someone can follow very clear three word instructions in a simple sequence.
I didn't read everything, but I'm super happy to see the coolant passages between the cyls of the ranger were crossdrilled back from the start. Instead of the coolant flowing under the gasket causing issues with other Ecoboost 4cyls.
Question I didn't ask; answered.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Ranger gets a holiday break. I think this is the second day I've owned it where I didn't go somewhere. *Not counting when Ford had it for a week to mount the bed properly.
Might be doing some day drinking with the family for the game. Let's see if I can stay awake past 8...
Best endorsement for this product so far.... Wife took the truck out to go get groceries as I was blocking the minivan. She came home and asked me what the f#$@ was wrong with me for doing that to the Ranger. Confirmed non-gear head noticed the change.
I had a loaner Explorer with Ford's nav on it. I think I like my XLT using my phone/Google maps more. Maybe I'm just more familiar with it and that created a bias.
That said; it's neat they added that to the Ford stuff. Google can be a bit weird with what it thinks you should do to save gas...
Get the Livernois tow tune and you will see 2nd even if you breathe on the throttle to get it moving.
Might be cheaper to hit the button to do the same thing... But.. mo powa baby! Yeah!
I honestly didn't notice until I did a many..many hour(s) trip with the wife with the radio down so we could talk. It was mostly back roads highway so many opportunities to accelerate away from lights with lowish throttle. Even then it didn't sound like ping/detonation/pre-ignition or rotating...
If he did a bit of research he might see the other posts concerning octane and power. Instead of spewing shit into a convo about random noises only a few trucks are doing. A few relative to the number here vs on the road doing it.
Not an apples or oranges comparison. Someone wanted to chime in with bad information. Each truck both do it, stock vs tuned. It's a thing some do it seems. I am not worried about it unless it causes an issue.
@Livernois Motorsports
Seems you guys don't know what your doing. This dude from the internet knows more about tuning. The noise that I'm not worried about seems to be pre-ignition or detonation and has nothing to do with weird Ford noises. Especially when comparing a stock truck noise to one...
Ford's tune cut the powertrain warranty in half but requires 91-93 octane and an ASE certified tech to install.
Livernois has a low octane tune that gives it a few extra hp on low octane and makes the transmission less dumb, but.. will more than likely void the warranty.
I think you can still...
Mine started after it was getting 93 all the time and cold weather (relatively) showed up.
But other than that weird uno reverse card sounds like the same thing.
I noticed mine doing the same under the same conditions a bit ago. Not sure when it started because my radio drowns the noise out. I am thinking it's in the fuel system... Very much an old diesel like noise and only under like 1/3 throttle right around 3k rpms.
My dealer put extra in mine... Charged me extra for it. Overfull and not from fuel.
Next change I am doing it. I'll check it at 6 before I crack open the extra quart.
