Mine has done that from day 1. It appears to be that the transmission doesn't like cold fluid. I always start mine a bit early and am easy on the throttle for a bit until it warms up.
I drove my truck for a while yesterday and it seems like it is shifting better. It wasn't bad before, but I did have some strange shifts at times. I didn't feel any strange behavior yesterday. It could all be in my imagination (including any potential issues), but fluid changes are never a...
I probably spent an hour getting the level correct. I tried various methods to see the level on the stick and the one that seemed to work the best was a UV light held at just the right angle - part of the problem is that fluid in the tube can get on the stick and messes up where you see the...
I just wanted to say thank you to Tony for this great info. I took the dive today and installed the PPE pan which obviously necessitated some fluid changing. I spent probably an hour getting the fluid level in the correct range - I only got the trans up to 185 but I'm sitting just over 5 on...
I don't know how I missed this post - I have fir trees all around and the fir needles get stuck in all those grooves and are a PITA to clean out. I'm going to look into doing this soon. I will just need to make sure I clean out the grooves well first (I need to do that anyway).
My truck has had a hard shift when cold since it was new (6+ years now) - but for me it is always 1-2 or 1-3 (depending on what it decides to do). I know that even though the fluid is thin it doesn't flow well when cold, so I usually try and warm it up for a few minutes when it is cold out.
I'm a little over 50k now - I've owned mine just over 6 years now - paid off. I think (and sometimes worry) about the transmission, and consider getting a new one which seems like they've finally figured out the problems - but then I realize I will have to re-do all my mods to the truck. I...
Congrats Sid!
As someone who recently completed "the countdown", it will go WAY faster than you think. Even "less than 3 years" will go faster than you think. And yes, I was completely over corporate America too - otherwise I would probably have kept working.
My truck has had one or two rough shifts when cold since it was brand new. Currently at 53k with no issues. I always let it warm up a bit and am easy on the throttle until it warms up.
I would not worry about a trans cooler. These transmissions have a hard time getting up to operating temperatures. Some people who do heavy towing have seen it get hotter but still not in dangerous ranges. Same with the additional capacity pan - It does not really seem warranted. More...
This is where I ate lunch yesterday:
I was amazed at how much snow was still up high - this is about 4700' and the snow was probably 8' deep in places.
I beg to differ. Although this is not an American made car, my 1973 Capri has instructions for how to adjust the valves in the owners manual:
OK, it was 52 years ago...... But close enough for me.
I have to agree - This is my first truck with a bed cover and I wonder how I ever got along without one. The tri fold is great - I can easily remove it when I need to, but most of the time it keeps the stuff in the bed mostly dry. I never looked at the roll up covers due to them taking up too...
A weak battery can cause all sorts of weirdness with modern electronics. Given you are 6 years on the original battery and ASS doesn't work any longer, I'd replace the battery first and see if it resolves the SYNC issue - also do the update to the current version. Between those two things I...
Someone must have retro fitted them. I'm 99.9% positive they are not available from the factory on anything but a Lariat.
I know there have been threads on doing it.
They didn't offer it immediately on the 5G. Maybe next year the 6G will have it. If it was offered at launch i would probably have gotten it but all they had was the FX4 package.
You gotta remember, the Ranger (at least here in NA) is kind of the red headed stepchild. Ford doesn't put too much effort into it, otherwise they might cut into F-150 sales.
