  1. Squealing brakes

Never heard of brake squeal products. I’ll google it. I do almost all of me vehicles’ maintenance and repairs.
  2. Squealing brakes

Just rotated tires. Looked at rotors and pads again. All looks good, but brakes squeal annoyingly and have for the past 3000 miles. Ideas?
  3. Can we stop linking to Ranger6g?

I hope R5g goes back to R5g soon. If not, I’m probably done except when I have a problem to research.
  4. Ranger Wifi

Don’t use paid radio, but travel a lot and use the trucks wifi. My phone is Verizon; truck is ATT. That covers me most places, but not everywhere.
  5. Maximum rpm range

4600 towing downhill. Otherwise it’s way less. I’ve not hit 5000 yet. I’m sure I could, but that noise is irritating over time. I guess for a short burst it would be okay, but the tranny gets warm enough at 4500 on grades.
  6. Windy day towing

Good plan. You really need to measure your real world tongue weight and know what your loaded trailer weighs - not the manufacturers guesstimate. how to use the CAT scale: 2 passes - 3 weighs If you will do 2 passes and 3 weighs on the scales you can also determine the amount of weight...
  7. Windy day towing

I have the Equalizer. Big brother to the E2. My truck and trailer move as one when’s it’s super windy. Take a measure of the unlhitched front fender height; then the hitched front fender height without the weight distribution - just the trailer on the ball with no bars. Work to setup so you tow...
  8. New Tires for towing a 18F TT

Goodyear Endurance are actually the trailer rated tire, and they are one of the better trailer tires currently available. Trailmark tires are designed for a different application than towing.
  9. Will you be upgrading to a 6G? Why or why not?

Nope. Bought my Chevy 2500 in April ā€˜98 and I still drive it. Bought my Ranger in August ā€˜21, and it only has 26K miles on it. Guess how long until I buy another truck????
  10. Are We Witnessing The Demise Of The Affordable Car?

Many of us do want them. I have to fix it when it breaks, and I hate working on cars. If it’s not on the car, it can’t break.
  11. Are We Witnessing The Demise Of The Affordable Car?

It is needed. I’ve spent time pulling my 4700lbs travel trailer up 15% grades. While it ran fine, it certainly was needed and not too much. It depends on what you do with a vehicle. I wouldn’t want a truck with less than 270ft lbs of tourque by at least 2500- 3000 RPM.
  12. Are We Witnessing The Demise Of The Affordable Car?

Good cars can be had for less than 30k. Maybe not fun cars, but certainly good ones. 2016 Corolla LE Plus $16,900 and I have changed oil, air filters, 2 sets of tires, a couple of alignments from our gravel roads, coolant once, brake fluid flush once, plugs once, and a tranny service. It has...
  13. Tow Mirrors

I’ve been out of WiFi and cell for awhile. My stock mirrors were not folders, so my Clearview are not either. RADAR1, I see you have an Escape trailer. We LOVE ours.
  14. Oil change warning out of wack

I’ve always done it. I’ve never done a manual reset. The dealer has never done it. This is the first time I’ve gotten the message.
  15. Oil change warning out of wack

My truck must be a MENSA truck because I’ve never had to do a manual reset. I change it after every major trip, and right before if it’s awhile between trips. So typically, about 2500 miles if between trips, and 5000 to 5500 if it’s right after a trip. The last two trips were so close...
  16. Oil change warning out of wack

Thanks. I’ll reset tonight. It’s always taken a little time, but always reset itself. I just figured since it always had, it was an automatic function. I never realized it has a manual option because I’ve never had to do it. Thanks.
  17. Oil change warning out of wack

After my oil changes, it always takes awhile for the oil life monitor to reset. Now after only 800 miles, it says I need an oil change. Is there some king of manual reset?
  18. Odd spare tire

17ā€ wheels, 16ā€ spare. Bought a matching used wheel and when I bought tires I got 5 instead of 4. Now everything matches.
  19. Is it me or does the base Ranger seem "too tall"

Another design defect for sure. It is too tall, but I knew that when I bought it. I have the DeeZee step. Works great. Gave up on getting the Bestop after waiting 6 months and it never showed. I also have running boards and a wheel step. It’s taller than my ā€˜98 C2500, but that’s the way all...
  20. New Thailand Ranger with Monster Cab Over Camper (girl not included)

I like slide in campers for travel in Alaska and Northern Canada, but everywhere else I prefer a travel trailer. We had a Bigfoot 9.6 on our C2500. It was great, but the 1800lbs of payload in my Ranger is not enough for much of a slide in camper. There are a few lightweights that might work, but...
