Astronomy, hiking, sailing, traveling, audio, and eventually a 1930 Model A Tudor. Probably not until after I sell the boat though. It’s hard to find enough time to do all of this.
I’ve done grades like that with more weight than that. I have no problem seeing 4500 RPM down. If it goes over that, I start braking.
Just do as others have mentioned on speed, brake, gears, and tow mode. It’s been covered. If you have a trans temp guage that can be useful, but generally it...
The general rule of thumb on wheelbase length to trailer length, which is highly debatable, says a gen 5 Ranger should be good to 24’ as long as you set up all of the hitch / weight parameters properly. Personally, I think as long as hitch / weight are correct, you could go longer. If hitch /...
Equalizer 10,000, 1000 bars. I’ve had it for years. It’s been on multiple trailers. It’s really too big for my current trailer so I just have to be careful how much I load the bars, but it sure don’t have sway. It is heavy, but I really like Equalizers.
I have the Clearviews. Before I used the Cipro / McKesh. They are the only clip on mirrors I have found that actually work well.

255/65R17 B F Goodrich KO2 does come in D if that’s a tire you want. That’s my stock factory tire size although I don’t have those tires. I just know they are available.
There is a lesser frontal area rating for the Ranger. It’s not been a problem for anyone I know, and many people do not move up to full size. I tow over 10,000 miles a year with my Ranger just fine. However, I personally do pay attention to windage. I don’t think I would care though if my...
Now that quality, repairs, warranty, DIY, depreciation has come up, I’ve been in RV’s 54 years and here’s my strong thoughts based on experience.
Quality: they are all junk, but some are less junk than others. I’m a BIG advocate of MOLDED, not laminated wall fiberglass. The majority of molded...
Just saw this thread since I have been traveling. I tow with the truck often and far. I bought the truck for towing. This forum has lots of good setup info. I use a P3 in my 3/3 ton, but use thr Redarc in the Ranger for the AEB. I prefer the P3. It’s smoother and has more refined control.
As...
If you have sway, weigh your trailer and get tongue weight ready to tow. I second read the towing threads. I tow 1000’s of miles a year and don’t have sway no matter which trailer I tow. There is info on the forum for hitch and trailer weight set up to allow you to tow safely. The truck can tow...
I have a ScanGuage II and am close to GCVW when towing although the trailer itself is only around 4700lbs. I’ve only hit 225F on the tranny once, and that was pulling up and down a 17% grade.
This has about covered it. I have the Redarc in my Ranger due to AEB, but I think my Prodigy P3 works better in my other vehicles. It just won’t work with the AEB, so, the Ranger has the Redarc.
