Same day I bought the truck I put 4600’s on the rear and blue Sumo’s. No regrets. I really hated the way it rode and ordered the parts after a test drive.
I tow in remote places. The bed is very full with gear including some just in case fuel. The price is high, but I expected that. I also want to see insurance / liability first. We’ll see. At this point, I’m a maybe, but a recent email to them asking about the tank brought no reply, and when...
Grew up in Texas, spent most of my life in Alaska, now in Kansas. I’ve heard it called all kinds of things in all 3 places. I grew up calling it a camper shell or just shell. A cap was a tonneau. Topper was introduced to me by my wife, and I think she picked that up from her time in Nebraska...
1. I , like you use a wdh with sway control, and I know it is set up properly, not just slapped on. I have an Equalizer brand with 4 point sway control.
2. I know my tongue weight, each wheel weight, and total weight. Somewhere on this forum I have posted a form to use with a scale to get all...
Yep only 2 cab sizes so those are the seats. Many of us still have our seat backs installed but covered. Plus most of us want to be able to put them back eventually for resale. My seat bottoms are stored protected for just such a time.
4600lbs trailer with WDH and Clearview mirrors and Ford brake controller. I really disagree with those who say you don’t need towing mirrors. Those are the most important additions to me. We tow at least 10,000 miles and 4 months every year. I bought the Ranger specifically for towing.
I make it work most of the time, but it’s not near as easy to make it work. That’s why I still have a truck with a bed twice the size of the rangers, and with a lower load height. I miss the days of small standard cab trucks with 8’ beds. If I wanted a car, I’d buy one.
Yeah I don’t even like my 6’ box. First truck without an 8’ bed for me. Frustrates me sometimes. If I didn’t already have an old 3/4 ton I’d never get by with the Ranger. I have these 6’ plastic tables I keep thinking will fit. They are a 1/2” too long every time!
One of the reasons I bought it was because of the payload. If mine goes down much, it would almost assuredly have me buy something besides Ford next time. I simply wouldn’t trust I was buying what I thought I was.
I’m glad your Subbie is good. My 2002 Impreza Outback Sport was the worst vehicle I ever owned. I was not sad when it died at 139K and thousands of dollars in repairs. I’ll never buy a Subbie. My Ranger has been fine.
