You had 2400 miles on your ranger when you noticed the over fill and gas smell. I would bet the dealer changed your oil so I would keep close eye on crankcase level. Check it after an additional 1k miles and see if the level has increased. Good luck
So I dont see any mention of high pressure fuel pump leakage, They pretty much isolated the problem to the fuel pump since all the other tests were okay.
Sorry for your predicament. I dont understand why the dealer isn't attempting to fix it, What ever happened to diagnosis and repair like maybe replace the fuel pump. At least they kept it and gave you a loaner to use, that's better than some of the other dealer responses that have been posted...
Unfortunately i don't think there is one yet. That's why if you have that issue you should report it. As I mentioned earlier read this thread so you have some good info when you see your dealer. Good luck and keep us informed of your results.
Really, you stated the crankcase is overfilled and oil smells of gas. I suggest you read this "fuel in oil" Thread from the first post. Also read your owners manual IE: The part about overfilling the crankcase
You need to tell them to check the fuel pump, you need to notify Ford Corperate, changing the oil will help BUT not if they dont do anything about fuel getting into the oil.
Why do you suspect the stop/start feature contributes to fuel in the crankcase. My ranger now has 4500 miles on it. Never had fuel in the oil I use the start stop feature. Oil change at 3k no issues. Last trip 2800 miles avg. 25mpg combined.
Seriously you believe that bull about heat. How much heat does it take ?My ass feels like its sitting on hot coals about ready to burst into flames when I have the heated seat feature on.
Leaky injectors could be possible although not to the extent some are experiencing but as you suggested those issues and washed cylinder walls would affect ring seating as well. I think most believe the problem is the high pressure fuel pump leaking into the crankcase . It is the same issue GM...
I guess the recall is based on the date range of the motor production. I thought I saw a reference range - but can't find it now. Is this date a suspect motor?
The recall dates are from June 14 2019 through September 22 2019. Unfortunately mine shows a motor build date of July 7 2019. The...
With the hope Ford Corporate may monitor this forum they will get an idea this is not an isolated issue with gas in oil. So please if you have this issue take the poll.
According to the owners manual max oil level is the hole above the cross hatch. What concerns me as much as having gas in the crankcase is the reaction from the dealerships and techs. You should point out what the owners manual says about an overfilled crankcase.
It is a problem, that amount of gas in the oil that raises the level in the crankcase above maximum is a big concern and Ford wont know if it's a problem till more people who have GAS in their oil complain. I don't know how many or how long it took GM to realize they had Gas in the oil problem...
