Also keep in mind with the fast charging(specifically the supercharging) will degrade the life of the battery quicker vs the slow charge. A few tests were done with different EV vehicles and on average you can loose 4% health in a year on the batt if constantly using the supercharger.

We shall see. With lead acid and lithium batteries you want to keep the battery within a certain temperature while charging. If you don't it will degrade the battery. Also if you get to an area where it's too cold then a lithium battery won't even charge

We all know why some are triggered by Musk when just a couple years ago he was the darling of one party for his EVs. So yes it is political and ends here.


This forum is really not the same anymore. Maybe everyone needs to read the rules again and familiarize themselves with them. We wont tolerate anyone swearing at another member or crying about their political dislike for another member or political party whether he's not "technically " a political leader. I've seen it in the posts way too often now and it's going to stop. We never had these issues this often before and if people feel the need to argue about politics there's Reddit, which is a toxic waste dump.

**ETA...When someone mentions the government, or a representative or even Musk it's not a huge deal. It's adding the hateful labels after that now makes it political because we all know the intent.

Example:

Biden just signed a $7,500 EV rebate today. That's fine in an EV thread.

Adding the swasticars label to it now makes it political because we all know the intent of it.

My strong dislike for Tesla is personal. Not political. It started about 13 years ago. As a potential vendor I had to visit the site, view the issues, talk about potential solutions, etc. Fast forward a bit, sit in one of their meeting rooms reviewing the proposal line by flipping line. I have seen, first hand, how this company functions…. Or doesn’t. Then after winning the business, delivering and installing the product, now spend MONTHS trying to collect the money owed. Payment terms clearly spelled out in the contract they signed. I’ve lived this process MULTIPLE times with that organization. Never changes. And having to chase owed money from large organizations never fails to anger me. And yes, I’ve dealt with Ford, GM and Dodge (or Fiat, or Sillyantis or whatever their name is this week). Difference? Never, never had to chase them for money owed.

No argument here. I simply wanted to explain how my opinion of Tesla is direct first hand personal experience. Not politics. It’s all cash and commission related. When an organization impacts my bank account, in Tesla’s case negatively, it gets my attention.

But the way things are now it's an easy assumption and things are just getting out of hand everywhere today because of politics. That's why I stay far away from it and haven't watched the news in years.

If you thought the RWD was fast, You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet.

If you go Long Range instead of Performance, you can purchase an acceleration boost (permanent, not subscription) and the LR becomes almost as fast as the Performance., while giving you a softer/smoother ride (but not the pretty awesome seats in the Performance).

One more thing that may not be of importance, but the Performance has an EXCEPTIONALLY good stereo. It may also be available in the LR but the base doesn't have it.

He did ask me if I wanted to test the long range and was telling me about the options for it. IF I were to get it's going to be hard enough to stay out of the pedal with the Performance one never mind adding more power. lol It's really insane the power and torque these have and are right there without any lag at all. The regen braking took a little getting use to butter about 15 minutes it really is nice to use one pedal driving.

I did play with the stereo a little bit and it was really nice. I think he said there were 9 speakers and a sub in the Performance model and then he pointed to another one on the showroom floor (I don't remember which one it was) and said that one has 15 speakers and a sub. The cab is really quiet and I think no matter which you get it'll sound really good.

One thing I wished they did was have a slide cover for the glass roof on the inside. While it's dark tinted it's still a lot of heat/sun beating in here in AZ. I see that they make a cover you can add to it that pops in and out but didn't care to look further into it yet.

Here’s why:

I searched for years, and spent lots of money to try to get more than 1 down and .3 up internet at home that worked more than 60% of the time. It’s expensive, but now I have working internet.

I had a 2016 Corolla. I NEVER did anything except oil, ties, gas, wipers, and one battery and one set of struts in 10 years and 200,000 miles. It only cost 16K for an LE Plus and got 35-40mpg.

There was a family in need that needed a free car, and we had severe medical issues in our family that left me as the only driver. I have poor vision from birth defects and drive only with a doctors note. We have many medical appointments an hour and a half away in a city I do not know. We were no longer able to attend family or social events after dark or in lower visibility weather.

So there is exactly one manufacturer of a car that mostly drives itself. I can concentrate on looking around at the road, without having to also constantly do all of the other small tasks of driving. This makes life safer for me and others. It’s NOT full self driving, but almost. I am in FSD 98% of the time. The other 2% I do have to take over for one reason or another. It has given our life back to us, and immensely reduced my stress.

You can add power or manual sliding roof covers. I did, but hardly ever use it. The stereo is good, not great. I do professional audio, so my standards for “great” are pretty high.

That's the thing I'm no Musk fan either and think he's a little very strange. But I won't let my hate for someone or something stop me from getting things that I like that really no one else has right now. If I did that I'd probably never buy anything again. lol

Glad to hear it's worked out well for you and gave you your life back. I think (especially) as we age this technology will come in very handy letting seniors and others like yourself continue to have a life without feeling like they're now useless and dependent on others. I'm sure others will copy this and already are but this car was so far advanced than anything I've ever seen and driven it was really amazing. Yes this sounds like a broken record but for anyone who's never driven an EV go out and try one. I was an EV opposer (just look at all my past posts) and while I'm not still 100% convinced I'll go that route I'm closer now than I was yesterday.

The 9 speaker setup is the base stereo.

The enhanced is the one with 15 speakers and 2 subs. It is only in the Long Range and Performance versions.

The RWD only gets the 9 speaker setup.

I do have the upgraded stereo.

I don’t care if it’s gas, hybrid, or EV. I’m glad it has a decent stereo, but it’s not important to me. What is important, and the only reason I own it, is FSD.

My life has changed dramatically over the last 10 months, and even my favorite things are no longer all that important. I’m living a life I could never envision, but I still embrace it and enjoy life daily. Priorities can shift rapidly, but I know Jesus has this all the way through.
