I decided this week to put an order in for a 2026 F150, so I'll have to part with my 2019 Ranger in a few months. Still coming to grips with it all. My Ranger is my baby, it's been a great little truck, but "little" is a big reason for why the wife and I made the decision.
Four years ago, we started looking for an SUV for my wife because she wanted something a little bigger than her 2017 Fusion Sport. We tried unsuccessfully to get into a number of different vehicles, but lingering restraints and new model delays meant multiple unbuilt orders across multiple brands. Last spring, we took advantage of employee pricing on a new Lincoln Aviator (the upgraded Explorer). Very luxurious, tons of power out of the 3.0L twin turbo, overall a very nice road trip vehicle (lots of highway trips to see family).
When we got the Aviator, I decided to hang onto the Fusion since trade values sucked and it's a great car with no issues. Recently, my wife has been talking about having too many vehicles between the 2 of us, and since I still refuse to get rid of a high powered sedan that gets great fuel economy, we decided that the Ranger and Aviator need to be replaced with just one vehicle. I just can't live without a truck, so needed to go with something a bit more roomy in the Lariat trim to keep the wife happy.
I will miss my little Ranger after 7 years and 66k miles of trouble free ownership. Until very recently, I had planned on running my Ranger until either it, or I, expired. I will have to make the most of these next few months with my beloved Ranger while Ford schedules and builds my new F150.
