Was gifted this ole girl, leaks everywhere and didn't run, got it running so decided it was worth fixing the axle seal, which is pouring. Drive out the roll pin and since its been covered in oil, it should slide right off! Shouldn't it ???

Im thinking 🤔 now of welding a nut to the rim and use the bolt to "pull" it off ...

Sometimes it's fun working on things tinkering with them and trying to get them back to life but other times it's frustrating. That's always my luck thinking something's going to take a few hours then 2 days later...🤬

Damn through, that old 8hp Kohler sounds awsome at ultra low idle... 👌 ill cut the damn thing off if I have too 😤, but i may see what kind of puller I can rig up if the welded on nut and bolt 🔩 doesn't work out...

What about a bottle jack between the wheel and frame of the machine? The frame looks pretty stout

Ah okay. I’ve never tried using one that way so I just learned something new! My only other thought is maybe an air hammer would help to vibrate it somewhat so then it might loosen up a bit? Are you able to move it at all or is it just stuck where it sits? If you’re able to move it to a point maybe you could get a flap disc or grinding wheel and smooth the area it stops? Like you said though your willing to just cut it off so may not be worth it if your puller doesn’t work.

Remove the pin, take it outside and bury it in soil. Soon the wheels will fall right off. That's how I used to get mine off. Probably a shaft galled by dirt ground in the seal that will always drip some if not replaced. Be sure to use brass safe gear oil when refilling. I used to add ariens high pressure additive made for worms to mine also. Best affordable tillers ever made.

Just making sure the roll pin was the only piece holding it on. Worth a triple check at this point. I've had some success of beating on/off, like a stuck brake drum. Also, try turning the wheel forward/backwards, again, like a stuck brake drum. If you can rig up something like an oil filter wrench to turn wheel forward/backwards, that may help loosen up.
I'm sure you've tried all this. I like your think tank area.

Unless there is a circlip on either side, it should slide off with the roll pin out. I like @mtsoxfan's idea of rotating the wheel to and fro; maybe a gear puller as a last resort. Hopefully the axle is still serviceable.

Application of 303 and using a damper's in and out motion to remove ???????

In second pic there appears to be a bolt running thru the wheel hub and axle with a nut....did you remove that ???
