Picked up a Dan Wesson DWX yesterday. Been wanting one since they came out a few years ago. It was posted on our local forum. The seller had two of them and this one was never shot. I believe him when he said "brand new". It's immaculate. I'm a little iffy about the red trigger. I had a silver trigger in my parts bin. Debating if I should swap it out.

Nice gun !
You can't go wrong either way. The red doesn't look bad.

I wanna know if it works...
Installed and took her out plinking. Short answer, yes! Happy to have it. Helps with my medical condition, plus, helps with the overall control. The key thing is, it helps with my medical condition. I can shoot my rig right handed!

Glad Santa got it for me.

Send it to Hayes Custom Guns in Texas or Briley in Houston, Tx and they can sort them out really well.

I’ve competed with guys running both RIA double stack 1911’s and Springfield Prodigy pistols that Hayes and Briley smoothed out and turned them into viable entry level options compared to the 2011’s we all run.

I've heard about the improvements that can be made on the gun, but I bought it only to play around with it. I had little over $1,100 on reward gift card thru work & it was only $100+ out of pocket, wanted to buy a gun that would be interesting, but wouldn't spend my own money on. lol

I got the RMR & red dot plate for it same way.

You can always beat an intruder over the head with it.......don't have to worry if it jams or not.......
Just make sure it's not the first firearm you go to......

My Remington 597 turned into a machine gun when the injection molded sear wore down. That was a fun surprised to discover at the local range!

Modern Remington earned their bankruptcy

What ammo are you running through it?
How many rounds thus far?
Has it been back to Springfield Armory for warranty yet?
All the usual cheap target shooting ammo, mostly brass. I haven’t shot it much, just few hundred rounds. To be honest it didn’t even cross my mind sending it back to Springfield due to how little regard I had for Prodigy to begin with. I was just looking for cheap 2011 to play around with, and went in knowing that none of the “affordable” 2011 are trouble free. Even the good one's sounds like they are high maintenance? Also, I'm little bit hopeful that maybe it has its break-in period.

You lucky dog, mine just jammed every couple of rounds! lol It improved after new magazines, but at that point I was starting to run into defective factory magazines(brand new). I got fed up & gave it to a buddy of mine who liked plinking, but didn't own a gun.

I have a couple of my "pound puppy" firearm projects cooking right now. But the one that is seeing the most progress is my most recent rescue, and it's pretty exciting to me.

I scored this Chinese knockoff of a Remington 870 for $50!!!!!!! It was listed as a gunsmith special.

When It arrived, I found it was missing it's blade front sight. Upon loading some dummy 12 gauge rounds into it, I also found that it wouldn't strip the rounds from the magazine tube when cycling the action.

So I dug in!

I removed the optic rail first and then installed a bead front sight. Then I ditched the tacti-cool polymer furniture in favor of a set of Remington 870 Police Magnum stocks.

To work on function, I dug into the guts of it, and found each of the shell latches where only being held in by one small stake. As I was discovering this, one of the latches fell out! I swaged these in with 4 stakes each, and that solved the feeding problem and it seems to be cycling just fine.

Next I dug into the guts. I dropped the Chinese bolt assembly and slide for Remington Police Magnum parts. I also have replaced the carrier dog spring and bearing in the trigger assembly.

Next up:
I need to decide if I'm going to keep the Chinese trigger assembly in this, and just replace parts with Remington parts, or just drop in a complete Remington 870 trigger group. I am liking the Chinese trigger group because it has a larger slide release than the Remington stuff.

Then, if this gun runs...

...I'm going to SBS it! I'll file the required paperwork to SBS it and then drill and tap for a bead sight closer to the receiver and cut down the barrel myself.

Just replace every part with a Remington part.
