Hey, I was looking at your site as I tore my front driver CV boot, I'm seeing 2 options for complete axles: with or without tow package. Are the CVs really different? And/or are they stronger?
I think it was confirmed by another member that the - Tow Pack CV Shaft is longer, so yes they are different (lengths) -The Tow Package 2 = (The Towing - Hitch Receiver) not the Bumper & Ball.
So if you buy the cheaper shaft (its shorter) and will create issues, opposite if you do not have Tow Pack 2 - it will be too long.
But I will let Benny confirm it.
I can only confirm that I ran into this issue on a previous vehicle, where the shorter shaft was boxed into the longer shaft box, got into a sharp turn and the shaft made noise - pulled it back apart and with a warranty swap and noted side by side length (off set) by about 1/2 inch.
I am sure the Ranger will show a similar (off-set)

Hi,
We do not have engineering data to compare dimensions. If you need help specifying which part number is correct for your truck please message me your VIN.

Thanks,
- Benny

I completely forgot I did this (research)
Granted this information (Specs) is from Rock Auto, I dug into this last year to find an answer to the question of the different part numbers, I do recall another member having install issues for the shaft (Another Thread - ? on which one it was)

Another CV Axle joint popped out post. Please have mercy I need some input. | 2019+ Ford Ranger and Raptor Forum (5th Generation) - Ranger5G.com

Researched - yes, the Tow Package shafts are longer and have a different (socket size) nut.

Using Rock-Auto (info) specs as a guide and compare the TP vs Non-TP shafts
For the Left Shaft:
Tow Package = 24.21 (in) compressed length - axle nut (socket size) 32mm
W/0 - Tow Package 23.94 (in) compressed length - axle nut (socket size) 36 mm

So, it is possible to ensure you have ordered the correct shaft is to know which size socket fits over the axle nut as a secondary confirmation, not absolute but a secondary way to know which part number you may have installed (if the parts tag is no longer attached)

End of Original Post:

Note: I recently replaced my front shock assemblies and had a 35mm axle nut, I have the Tow Pack 2 package - so for the socket size (above) does not match, so I do question the validity of the information provided by Rock Auto

I also have 35MM Axle nut on a '22 tremor without tow2 package. I kinda looked into this as well, the knuckles are the same and hubs are the same so I really do not understand the length difference and why the longer one would not work on non tow2 package.

What a strange change to make, 3/8" longer. I'm curious why they would have made that change. I would have expected maybe a little beefier on TP versions, thought it might be a little strength upgrade to swap in but oh well.
I've had my axles half out before for suspension work, fairly sure it was a 35mm nut but I do not have to towing package.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce our re-vamped site, It's very similar to the original but on a newer more modern platform https://www.levittownfordparts.com/

Feel free to kick the tires and fire back any feedback good or bad. Thank you for taking the time to check it out!
