I have seen that a few times in the last 2 years if I start the truck and my Android is already plugged in, I unplug it and plug it back in and it goes away....

If bad probably need a new Module. This looks like a common problem as they have sold a lot of these. Since I bought the truck used the screen has been miserable but fixed now it works great.

I'm not trying to start something, but you keep saying that they've "sold a lot of these" whereas they've sold only 48. Considering that we're something like 20,200 members on here (404 pages with 50 registered members per page https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/members/list/) that's only a 0.2% fail rate, and by no means is every Ranger owner on here (granted, nor is every replacement part bought from that vendor) so it's probably less than that.

It sucks that this happened to you and I'm glad that the forum was able to offer you a solution, but let's not start making this out to be a major issue. My sister has gone through five windshields on her 8-year-old car, but that doesn't make it a known issue with that make and model. She was just unlucky enough to get what's probably an isolated defect in her windshield frame.

True - Yes for the Ranger at least this forum, I do not recall a great deal of issues with the actual hub failures.
Keep in mind that the part number I posted is not specific to the Ranger, it is valid for a few other ford models.

I dug some into the Hub operation and it appears that there is a resistor in the hub (pull down) that pulls down when there is nothing connected and the device power overcomes that resistor on the data lines - this is how the Sync (APIM) sees that there is something connected.
So, either the Hub was shorting the data lines together or the resistor was bad - tricking the APIM into thinking something was connected.

Either way - it's a good fix

Well, I am sure there are a lot of places sell these including Ford themselves. If you see one seller sell a lot of something I am sure others sell them also. This is a small statistical example and depends what size of example it takes to prove this is debatable. I don't have the total numbers, and I am sure Ford want release, but I see a trend know matter how small.

It sucks that your sister has gone through 5 windshields and yes, she must be one unlucky gal.
