Hi folks,
I've been monitoring every fillup I've done since I got my ranger 2.2, and im a little confused.
In stingy, and like to get every drop of fuel I can before I start to worry about the fuel pump (I know this may be seen as bad, but never had an issue personally), but recently my range to empty seems to be getting worse and worse? but that being said, heres a recent example:
(UK measurements, but theory applies):
-Filled up 14.83 litres, which cost me £20.01.
-last MPG reading was 32.77
-Computer read 160 miles till empty.
-I got to 80 miles before it said I had 0 miles... computer was reading 33.8mpg for this fillup.
-gallons used from computer (uk): 2.91 uk gal, which is 13.22 litres, however from my previous calculations (from tracking fillups since day 1), I know there is 23.78 litres still in the tank when I stopped to fill up?
I can frequently get 50+ miles past 0 t/e without any issues, but always freak out that I'm wrong and the truck actually has nothing left...
Does the sensor require there to be a certain amount of fuel in there to prevent damage to the pump? If so, why (at times) have I still got a calculated 20~% left in the tank when I'm waaaaaay past what it tells me is empty?
Dodgy fuel sensor?
I've attached a screenshot of my most recent fillups for reference.
Cheers
