haha, well man, the MPG is what is most appealing. I lost another 1mpg when going from k02 to k03 tires. I am 42 as well but when I was younger I was always jealous of those BOV in the imports, at the time I had (still do) my 66 Mustang with a v8 but boost is so nice even if it is just in the Ranger. The mustang is just on glass pack mufflers with 11.0:1 compression so it is loud, with a nice cam. The Ranger engine wise is basically stock so while both are black, they are very different.

This truck is funny, if you just smash the throttle it doesn't feel as fast as rolling into it. I am thinking there is traction control aspects to that, but I do like rolling into the throttle to build boost and let off, with the radio off I can hear the stock BOV slightly. Maybe you are right, I should just go for the loud one.

I will think about it. I had my engine replaced at 50k miles so I am glad I never put a tune on it. I think little things like a pedal commander and maybe re-gearing the truck will make up for the lack of a tune. The BOV
you know that’s pretty funny because I feel the same way about the truck feeling faster when you’re rolling into it and then just press that skinny pedal down!

BTW, love the choice of the Mustang! I’m pretty sure I’ll have another one… Had a 67 S code 390, but I had bought it while in college and had so much more to add to it, but when I graduated I realize there is no time for the enormous project. Talk about biting off more than you can chew! Whoops

Still trying to get those blow off valve clips. I think my feeling is that it’s not obnoxious, it’s more of a sound that makes everyone curious… wondering, what exactly does he have under that hood?! With that said, it was the increase in MPGā€˜s that had me absolutely thrilled!

I’m a bit jealous of the Stang! Sounds like we might have some similar taste in vehicles.

Cheers!

Did you manage to get the 33x12.50’s to fit without rubbing? My KO2’s are about worn out and I’m looking at options for upgrading. I’m thinking of going from a 18’ to a 20’ rim since most of my trucking is on road. 33x12.50’s keep coming up and I’m wondering how much trimming might need to be done to get it to fit without major rubbing.

were you asking me? Or was that meant for someone else?

I haven’t rounded up the funds necessary, so I still haven’t put them on. I’ve just been sort of preparing by getting the high clearance crash bars/anti-intrusion bars, and looking where the potential rubbing spots are.

What I’m thinking is that my tremor is pretty much an inch taller than a stock range. I think it might be 9/10 of an inch. Then I added 2 inches so I think it’s fair to call it a 3 inch lift.

There’s that front wind dam, and it gets bolted to this metal piece that kind of sticks out on its own. I’m pretty much positive that I’ll be removing that and I haven’t looked further up but either unbolting that metal piece because it just hangs down, or I will cut it way up high because I don’t plan on ever putting that back if removal is needed.

I actually asked ChatGPT because I just thought it would be funny and it gave a reasonable reply and basically said yes, but you might need to trim a few parts.

I also had asked Robbie , who is a great guy and is the one who fabricated my tremor specific 2 inch spacer in the front and he said it’s not an issue.

I think the gist is that if you do the regular changes such as handling the crash bars, getting that truck up about 3 inches or more, and then from what I gather, a zero offset will work, if you are the type who likes it sort of aggressive. And I definitely am because I want the tires to stick out a little bit.

I’ll be putting on fender flares… I’m thinking Roush or RTR, as I first looked at a couple of the options and they were enormous! It seemed like my truck would look sort of silly when the flares are about 6 inches tall.

My hope is that when I put on the fender flares, the tire stick out 3/4 to 1 inch further. That would be my idea of perfection!

I really really hope I can get this taken care of within two months! As soon as I do, I will be posting the hell out of it, since even still there’s so much mystery on how it fits! I know that I still have doubts but I’m really really hoping… Not to mention I’m not quite as worried because I’m not gonna hit up Insane off-road, but more logging roads and just fun stuff that doesn’t require a bunch of spotters and all of that.

THIS IS NOT MY TRUCK BELOW! I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE THAT’S CLEAR TO ANYBODY WHO DIDN’T READ MY ENTIRE POST!

this is the TS dual port Kompact. (Might be loud audio so turn down speakers and ease back into it.)
BOV sound is subtle when the hood is closed.. unless you smash it on the on ramp and cut the throttle abruptly at the top of the boost building up..
(Stock engine tune btw, no CAi, no special bits, just a neutered Cali truck with a BOV? at this time.) so yeah this is an all stock just BOV example.
oops forgot to include..I’ve seen about .9-1 mpg (ran through three fuel tanks since install.) I haven’t changed my driving style (well … except for right after installing the bov I scooted around making it woossh-ify.)

Sounds good!

I thought the woosh would be obnoxiously loud so I have a non woosh turbosmart. Almost wish I went the other way

I would consider buying used, granted we don't have any Utah trips planned. We head up there a few times a year, most recently for snow tubing around that part of the state with out little ones.

That is not bad actually. Funny enough, I drive with no radio at times to hear the madness in my brain, I can hear the stock one recirculate, I might go quiet but wouldn't mind that either. 1mph would make up for the K03 tires. Same size K02 to K03 I lost 1mpg.
