Yes when I bought the Ranger 6 years ago we still had mid-late teenage children who still sometimes came with us, but they've since grown into young men, found partners, and the oldest no longer even lives with us any more, so the original idea of having to carry camping gear and still have a back seat no longer applies. Infact I rarely use the back seat any more except to load stuff in when we go camping because of the easy access, and I could just as easily fold down the back seats in the Everest and still load through the rear doors and have a shorter more compact package that fits in my garage better. The Everest is more comfortable too because it uses a similar rear coil suspension setup to the Raptor.

Well when you start discussing Govt rules, they never use 10 words when 100 will do the job so:
I'll try

In Australia:

Quoted verbatim from the federal standard, most states more or less follow the federal standard with some variations, for example Queensland doesn't specifically include proper small trucks in the light commercial vehicle category, as per the federal standard, but they are still regarded as such, (because they can't overrule the federal standard) and you can still drive them on a standard car licence, (because they have a GVM of =<4,500 Kg) whereas New South Wales does call them a light commercial vehicle.

Vehicle definitions
Light commercial vehicles are motor vehicles constructed for the carriage of goods or specialised equipment
which are less than or equal to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM). These include utility vehicles, panel vans,
cab chassis, and goods carrying vans with a GVM of less than 3.5 tonnes.
The Australian Design Rules (ADRs) define light commercial vehicles as Category NA vehicles: light goods
vehicle with a GVM not exceeding 3.5 tonnes (for example, the Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger).
Light passenger vehicles are motor vehicles constructed for the carriage of persons and contain less than 10
seats, excluding motorcycles (two and three wheeled vehicles) and buses (10 or more seats).
The ADRs define three light passenger vehicle categories:
Category MA: A passenger vehicle, not being an off-road passenger vehicle or a forward-control passenger
vehicle, having up to 9 seating positions, including that of the driver (for example, a two wheel
drive Mazda CX-9 or a Toyota Camry).
Category MB: A passenger vehicle, not being an off-road passenger vehicle, having up to 9 seating positions
including that of the driver, and in which the centre of the steering wheel is in the forward
quarter of the vehicle’s ā€˜Total Length.ā€˜ There are no currently certified MB vehicles. The first
generation Toyota Tarago was an example of a category MB vehicle.
Category MC: A passenger vehicle having up to 9 seating positions, including that of the driver, that is
designed with special features for off-road operation (for example, a four wheel drive Mazda
CX-9 or a Nissan Patrol or a Jeep Wrangler).
Detailed definitions can be found at: Vehicle Standard (ADR Definitions and Vehicle Categories) 2005 made
under the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989

However there is a class of :"light trucks" ie things like Toyota Canter, Mitsubishi Fuso, Isuzu, etc mostly cab over proper small trucks designed for load carrying, which can also be driven on a standard car licence up to 4,500 kg GVM, although most of them used to be popularly referred to "5 tonne trucks" They were de-rated by the manufacturers to 4.5 tonne so anyone could hire them - very popular as moving vans and couriers.
This is where the new Ranger Super Duty would fit.

Heavy Commercial vehicles have a GVM of over 4,500 Kg and require a truck licence.
In Finland LCV would be vehicle GVM between 3500-7500kg with larger cargo space than people transporting space. If the area for people is more, it would be a minibus. Anything weighting more than 3500kg requires truck (or bus) license.

Ill take 2. Australia gets all the cool shit. Barra motors, the mullet of cars, and a love a mad max style roads.
Barra engines were just plain brilliant, I cried when they stopped making them. For a long time Ford US head office made Ford Australia de-rate them because they were faster, smoother, and more economical than the V8, and would steal V8 sales, then they gave up - after all sales are sales, and the XR6 Turbo variants were scarily fast -basically factory sleepers.

My dream vehicle would be an obs f150 with one of these and a 6 speed. Waiting on that winning lotto ticket to pop up.

Sadly even though they are a dime a dozen in the wreckers because they were so common, good ones still command good prices because of the demand for swaps into other vehicles. They go well in Toyota Cruisers and Nissan Patrols, and would be fantastic in a Ranger, but are just too long to fit. Ford should start making them again as crate engines.

Not gonna lie. If the Ranger Super Duty was available here I’d order one tomorrow!
no lies told here. love the look at 10,000lbs towing in a midsize... we would probably get the 3.0 twin turbo gaser here in the states... but it would cost as much as a ranger raptor

That’s pretty much what you would pay for a 2023 lariat tremor brand new here in Cali ?.. if the guy who T Boned my impala would’ve just crashed into in 2024 vs 2023 I’d be in a Ranger Raptor… my 23’ XLT Tremor was a staggering 53K out the door.. lariat tremors were going for 56-58K. I do love the tremor and I still prefer the 5G looks.. the 6G kinda looks like a little person F150.. ?
