Test drove a new Ranger Raptor yesterday. I really liked it, suspension and steering was far superior to my 22xlt fx4. However with the mods I've done the performance was not as good as mine and the price was unrealistic in my opinion. I could have purchssed it for sticker of 59.8k plus delivery charges of $1600. But wasn't willing to pay $60k for a toy. But the seats were fantastic. Would love to find a set to upgrade mine with.

What do you mean performance? As in your '19 was still faster?

I remember watching the drag race RR video TFL did I think it was and thinking how their Livernoise tuned 2019 video I think had that ranger running faster. Granted conditions not the same but I think the extra weight really slows the Raptor down considering the power numbers the engine has.

My paranoia about not tuning the truck may pay off as it may be getting a new engine at 50k miles but prior, I was considering re-gearing which would make me curious how a Raptor would compare speed wise.

If they put a new long block I will probably get back to my upgrade plans. Likely big brakes, carbon fiber/leather steering wheel and then maybe gears if I can find a GOOD shop locally.

Yes my Unleashed tuned 22 is faster.
Nice to hear. My dealer just got a Raptor in and I wanted to check it out Monday when I go by to get trailer keys out of my Ranger, assuming it is still there.

@awd.nv , So you know, I have the CVF, intercooler, charge pipes, down pipe and Gibson dual exhaust along with the Unleashed tune. However my tune is a tow safe tune, not an all out performance tune.

I had my ranger tuned too an it was quick but I would think the raptor should out run it.

A guy I know just got a new C8 vette an it came detuned an limited performance until he exceeded 500 miles. Once it turned 500 miles it unleased the full performance. Does for do this with their svt products?

I know a guy who explained the exact thing to me about his new Corvette.

He drove 425 miles to get his so it was almost unlocked when he got it home.

Don't know if it matters but his is the E-Ray, guess the hybrid electric motor powers the front wheels and the LS V8 powers the back in sport mode.

Good to know. I had a feeling that anyone that's updated their prior 24 Ranger probably has a solid offroad rig in comparison. I bet that big screen was nice. I have my 22 Lariat setup so well that there's nothing pulling on me at the moment to jump on the RR bandwagon.

Well that sure will make some difference haha. Finally pulled up the videos to compare, sure enough, I think it would be a good race. Links take you directly to the 0-60 numbers in each video. This is just fun, obviously the RR is more stout off road, it is just that the power numbers dont tell the whole story.

Tune RR 0-60 6.54

Tuned '19 0-60 5.49

So, elevation, temps, everything is so different but there is enough there to say it would be a close and fun race to see.

So my old 19' Ranger (2WD) with the 5-Star 93 Tune would bring my crank numbers up to 370HP & 400TQ (4200lbs)

Ranger Raptor comes in at 405HP & 430TQ (5,300lbs)

The tuned Ranger would also have the e-throttle adjustments to make the go pedal far more responsive. I am assuming if the RR feels more sluggish that would be one of the main culprits.

Yup, normal mode is very tame on the RR. Sport is where the fun starts. Also, the RR is quite heavier compared to a standard 5g.
