Oh, I didn't even think about that. I'll always consider this 'THE FORUM' for Ranger. At least in heart.
Indeed.
Anything else is just a cheap imitation.

Ok, I finally traded in my 2019 XLT for a 2024 XLT. The 2019 left me with 135,000 miles without one single problem, all original except the tires, 26mpg average fuel economy. I told the sales person I didn't want to drive the '24 because I already know that my 2019 runs and drives the same way! I truly believe as the miles stacked up, the truck ran better and better.

In any event, here's the 2024 XLT. Has many options. And the gas mileage right out the gate is IMPRESSIVE!!

Great to hear that you made it over 100,000 without tranny problems!...  Did you do any maintenance or service to the tranny?

I did nothing to the transmission. It shifted like butter. Not one single issue.

I took the Ranger in last week for "the works" and got the full synthetic oil change. The asst. service mgr. said that Ford has a number of TSB's which do fix the different problems but owners on this forum have reported that sometimes these fixes only last temporarily. She said that Ford has not come up with a permanent solution (disappointedly) yet such as a re-designed transmission that prevents the transmission problems in the 1st place.

Talked with a Service advisor there (who owns a Ranger Raptor) that I have known quite awhile from another dealership who I trust because he is straight forward and doesn't try to cover up for Ford. He explained the tranny problems in mechanical detail but in a nutshell said that the problem was too many gears which creates stress on the parts due to the numerous constant interacting functions in the tranny.

However, a number of owners on this forum have reported their tranny's have gone over 100,000 without a hiccup. One of them without doing any maintenance or service to it.

It seems like a few on here have had these crazy tranny problems but I, for one, cannot vouch for any of those cases. My previous Ranger had seen the works, off-road, constant daily usage, over 135,000 miles with not the slightest hiccup. Now, that's not to say that other's haven't' seen the exact opposite. The only thing that I can think of is a lemon or driving style or very hard abuse, racing, stuff like that. I don't think Ford would've used a badly designed tranny in any of their current flagship trucks (or any of their pervious flagship trucks) or, if they did, it's been updated, which I've also heard. Regardless, my 2024 shifts about as crisp as my 2019 did when I let it go. I really can't feel a hill of a difference between them.

That's encouraging about your 2019! Mine has only 15,000 and shifts perfectly but most of the issues seem to start at higher mileages. I do not abuse my tranny at all but drive normally and all the while keep from lugging the motor when driving to hopefully prevent fuel getting into the motor oil. I guess the only thing one can do is be meticulous about servicing and maintenance including changing the tranny fluid at 30,000 and have a current warranty. Then if a problem develops get it into Ford quickly to get a solution. The asst. service mgr. and service advisor did admit that they are seeing the same problems with some of these tyranny's as owners on this forum are reporting. Did you do any servicing or maintenance on your 2019 tranny?

Or do like me, just drive it and let it do what it's supposed to do and don't let these bad stories concern you. My tranny at 135,000 miles was untouched, all original. I think Ford recommends the flush at 150,000, which I had done on my F150. No noticeable difference on that truck, still drove and shifted the same as before. Messing around with it early, like you said, every 30,000 miles, just might be a recipe for future problems.

Did your F-150 have the same tranny and how many miles did it go?

No, it was not the 10 speed, 8 speed, which I don't think was the same unless they just added some gears to it. Had 150,000 miles on it when I traded it in for my 2019 Ranger.

I wish...I drive like I have a cop in tow...still on the original brake pads!
truly, a great truck everything on mine was original. I only changed tires twice and I went with the original tires. The new Rangers are bigger wider higher kind of getting away from that midsize view. I miss the aluminum front bumper on the original. All plastic on the newer ones. I also see that they got rid of the big fan upfront. Wonder what kind of difference that’s going to make but I did keep my top engine cover lol

I had the 5 speed automatic in my 2011 Ranger and it shifted just as well and smoothly as my 5g. Didn't sense a need for any more gears.
