Has anyone replaced their center carrier bearing themselves? Do you have a write up or video on how you did it? Mine started squealing really loudly yesterday.

Is it the same as the last gen Ranger? I have seen videos where the yolk is removed with a 24mm to get the carrier bearing off of the drive shaft.

Did you try the replacement? My center bearing is on its way out and I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to get the nut loosened without pulling the ujoint apart

Have an appointment next Tuesday. Service advisor said it was covered under power train warranty. Mine is a 2020 with 25k.

When dropping the truck off Tuesday I will make sure the warranty is covering it if not I will change it myself. I’ve read where it’s not covered or the part is but not the labor. Dealership parts dept is charging $145 for the part. Online Ford parts is about $100.

Mine is so loud it is embarrassing to drive. It’s parked in the garage until Tuesday. Riding my motorcycle for now.

Pretty sure you need to take the u joint apart to get to the nut. I’ve looked but the only videos I’ve seen for the bearing replacement is on the older gen Ranger.

That appears to be correct, some other vehicles have clearance in between the ujoint and the fastener but our rangers do not.

I did find this post and there is a manual on how to perform the replacement.

Got it back today. The replacement center support bearing was defective so they had to order another one but when the tech installed it the u joint got damaged in the process.

They were going to change the yolk as well but it was on national back order with no ETA. Since I’m moving to Ohio next week they reused the yolk.

That was on Friday so a new u joint was ordered for this morning. They put me in a rental 3 cylinder Escape for the weekend.

Drove the Ranger home and the noise is gone and it seems to drive fine.

I am grateful for the free rental but didn’t really like the Escape. If I was ever in the market for a small suv the Escape 3 cylinder 1.5 liter would not be on my list.

Mine is a 2020 with 25k miles and was covered under the 5/60 warranty.

I ended up just ordering a Tom Woods driveshaft. Wasn't a huge difference in price and I wont have to worry about replacing the center bearing every 50k miles. Overall the truck drives way better, no more reverse clunk, no more clunk when I stop and the biggest is its buttery smooth on the highway now!
