Tomorrow I’m heading on an hour and a half trip from 2800ft elevation up to 10500ft elevation. I just bought this Mahindra Roxor and it weighs 3000lbs. The trailer weighs by my research about 2000-2200lbs. So trailer weight about 5200lbs tops. Plus probably about 500lbs of stuff in the truck between my wife, me, tools coolers, camping stuff etc.. The way it’s loaded right now I’ve got about an index finger width of clearance between the spring and the bump stop on the back of my truck. Should I haul this way or should I shift the machine to pull weight back or move it forward? To me the truck and trailer look level and there’s definitely more weight in the tongue than the back of the trailer.

Well the Ranger can legally tow about 7700lbs (3500kg) so no issue there. Tongue weight max is about 10% of tow so 770lbs. Looking at the rear sag that may be on bit higher side but I don't see a problem there.

Move the load an 1-2 inch back if you want to be safe.

Note: Not a professional answer, just your random farmer answer based on looking at a picture. Always check your car specific details and manual.

I would expect no issues, there are people here towing +5000lb travel trailers and that is basically a parachute behind you. I tow 4000lb travel trailer + payload with zero issues. Been to Brian Head, UT towing and was no problem either. Just one very steep part going up hwy 143 but power was not an issue, the trans hit like 250F but cooled quickly afterwards.

This is what I was talking about

That’s my trip right there. I’m going from St. George to Brian Head. Gonna do some bike riding and ride some trails on the Roxor in one of the prettiest areas of the state. I’ve been assured my situation is good. I know the towing capacity is well under factory recommendation. Motor can handle it. I just get concerned about how the load is sitting. I know there’s an ideal balance. Just not sure how to exactly figure it without scales.

you kinda need scales to be 100% certain about your load balance.

I'm not thrilled with how the front of the truck sits a touch higher than the rear (though I've seen MUCH worse), but you leveled your Ranger, didn't you? pretty sure the only way you can get that part of your tow any better would be to use a WDH. trailer itself looks pretty level (hard to say much better given the tilt/slope in the pic), so that's good.

About the same weight as I pull- no problem.
Expect to see single-digit mpg.
great power, lousy mileage.

If it's not already evident, people are asking because the Rangers brakes can handle about 3500lbs of tow load by themselves.

If you're going to do the max tow load of 7000/7700 whatever it is the trailer needs it's own brakes and your truck needs a brake controller.

Especially going up and down 10k high Mountain passes.

We made it! She never went over 3500 rpms. Now we’re cruising around the mountain in the Roxor. A nice change being that it’s 110 at home, and 66 degrees up on top of the mountain!

I'm trying to figure out why your questioning if your vehicle can tell that amount of weight when it's clearly within the factory tow capacity. When will people stop asking this question?

Well you can tow #7500 the right way or the wrong way. I think he was asking how to do it correctly. It's always nice to help someone that may have never towed before. I've seen a lot of scary stuff on the road. Just last week I saw a Dodge Ram towing a heavy Kubota zero turn mower that was loaded all the way to the rear of a 12' trailer. He had all his trimmers and light stuff at the front .That thing was swaying all over the lane.
