Was thinking about picking up some steelies. Does this look damaged, or is this typical on steelies? I'm referring to the area just above the holes in the wheel.

It looks to me like paint that was put on very heavy and ran down, can you see if that's what it is?

My F150 with steelies had similar oddities, though not quite that extreme.

Seemed normal to me, but not 100% sure.

looks like damage to me. some of it is paint and possibly touch up. but the metal is clearly scarred. id skip it. if you need a spare and are near me i can give you one.

Super kind of you! I live in Florida and was really looking for a set because they are light weight and I am about to start commuting about 120 miles a day with my new job. I daily drive 285/70/17's and the hit on MPGs is rough! Thank you for the feedback and kind offer!

The set was listed for $150 with reasonable tires and TPMS sensors, so I was trying to convince myself it was a good deal. Four TPMS sensors alone can rival the price they were asking. I may just get them for the sensors. ?

understandable id keep looking for the set. a lof of the bronco take offs are the same as the ranger steelies. and all the bronco wheels fit the ranger. Not the bronco sport - just the full size bronco. the ranger and bronco share a lot of things.

Yea I seen that. Same center bore, offset, etc. I'm keeping my eyes peeled!

The Black Diamond and the Outer Banks edition wheels sure do look nice! Too bad the OBX wheels are like 31 pounds a piece ? IIRC

If it is only a paint defect, do you think that it was painted from the factory like this? The manufacturer stamp (16x7J-55 DOT...)looks like it probably did fresh off the assembly line.

For sure from the factory, I have seen it on new vehicles before

Seems like it’s gapped more there. follow the same circle pattern to the right. That gap is tighter.

I looked at quite a few pictures, and it looks like many of them have uneven gaps. Although, in this example it seems less pronounced. Also, it seems to widen right under the manufacturer "stamp" in this example too. ?
