I have 2x200 watt folding panels I use when camping, if staying in the one spot for a few days off grid, I sit them on the top of the canopy on my truck and feed the cables in through the side window to the 100AH AGM battery in a box in keep in the tub to run my fridge / freezer. Worked like a charm when we were out in the desert last year, keeping the food frozen at -10C for the 2 week trip, although I did wake up to find them covered in ice a couple of times - it was July.
Initially I was looking into something like this. Prior to purchasing my trailer, I was looking at installing an Alucab Camper. Now with the trailer I plan on having some folding panels so that I can park the trailer in the shade.

We also tow a caravan (trailer) because we were going away for a number of weeks to remote areas we had additional food stores in the fridge in the tub and had it set as a freezer. Normally it's relegated to being the beer / food to be used today fridge. Our caravan has solar panels on the roof but they are for lights and radio etc because the caravan fridge is a three way gas / 240 / 12 volt unit. But like you we prefer to park in the shade where possible, so can also plug those same folding panels in for extra power to the caravan if required.

It's cool but I wonder how durable it is. They say they have a 24 month warranty but then say they replace or refund at their own discretion. Does it feel like something that's going to last?
Isn't Lensun a Chinese company? I wouldn't put commie parts on my Ranger! Nuf Said!

Yeah I like that. I’ve been eyeing those panels I’ve seen panels from Casadia 4x4 in person and the are really nice. I actually emailed them to see if they were going to make them for the Ranger before I saw this thread!

Update on the solar panel, it’s still mounted, and did not become a kite.

In the last 70+ days it has generated 3.8KWH per the app for the charge controller. In one of the photos you can even see where I was even in the triple digits in the end of March/beginning of April.

So far I am pleased with the kit overall. I would do it again as it fits the reason I wanted it in the first place. As I do not run a load on the system, I am fine with the single panel unit. If I were running a load(12v Iceco) then I probably would’ve looked into the three panel kit.
