Welcome Joe. I have a 2020 Lariat. And, the rims are upgraded, so we paid for those ugly wheels! I actually like them, too.

Did you ever mention what the carfax damage report was for?

dealer didn’t know more than was in the car fax. He looked it up and it was a light rear corner damage. Guessing the bumper got replaced or some paint got redone.

So in my process to do all the maintenance on the truck that should have been done as a CPO vehicle...

Today I went to look at how the cabin filter is going. Thats pretty damn wild for 18K miles.

This was after I noticed some bites out of the engine cover... I thought they may have just been molding issues, but ... this seems suspicious.

Guess next step is to open the cabin air intake area and figure out how much stuff is around there. No mouse indications on the truck currently around the engine cover area... but guessing it was a thing.

Just looked up the replacement process for the rear tail lights... so ... yeah, all they need to do is open the tail gate and good to go. Wow.

Now to find some obscure security bolts to replace the factory ones

To address the Taillight issue, I have figured out a way to add a tailgate handle pull and tie it into the Hood Ajar switch, to trigger the alarm when it is pulled.
Just need to finalize install location and actual real-world test of it.

Now for me personally I don't THINK I need this mod, and just wanted to explore options for a deterrent. This option protects the Tailgate as well as the Taillights, vs a Tailgate Ajar which will only trigger the Alarm when the damage is already done to the Tailgate to get it opened.

If I were a thief, I would check to see if the Tailgate was unlocked before I resorted to making noise punching through the Tailgate with a screwdriver. Thus, a handle pull test which would trigger the alarm.

My only worry would be false triggers in the middle of the night, as I am not 100% sure on the reliability of the sensor / switch. (Temperature Fluctuations)

given the experian car report, and CARFAX, and the routine maintenance the truck had… that wouldn’t be possible to hide that. It was a low mile lease for the first owner. But yeah, I was also shocked at the air filter.

everything else on the truck looks like a sub 20k mile vehicle.

Dialing back the odo is a massive no no and would open someone up to costly fines. Looks like some mouse incursion though, I'd go through that engine compartment and inspect the wiring for chewing.

Yeah, rolling back an ODO is massively challenging in modern cars, requires pretty much swapping the ECU for lower mileage ones, but then the hard coded VIN is a mismatch as well. And as you said there is no way a ford dealer would CPO a truck that was rolled back... or even had a hint it was.

Yup, already all over the mouse snacks. I haven't seen any wiring issues, just some nibbles on the cover so far. (But there was a charging system issue in the car fax, and a repair done, so I am curious if there was some mouse damage in the past that was repaired.) Just sprayed down the seemingly delicious engine cover foam with the Grandpa Guss spray

maybe the previous owner emptied a shop vac on top of the intake vent lol
