Just ordered the Auto mirror fold box from Trac, and the RCI Catalytic converter armor, and I have the 5100's in my cart, but going to get some miles on the current suspension first. Also ordering the $150 conversion for my LMS tuner to get it set on the ranger, but not going to actually put the tune on it just yet.

I did throw Blizzak DM-V2's on the factory rims yesterday as my other property we just got is in the middle of the rockies (Salida, CO) and snow happens for a good bit still up there :)

Going to source a used set of OEM 17's or another set of 18's and throw KO2s on them or something in the spring/summer.

So yeah... the pocket book is being drained :)
And so it begins ???

FOrd ESP. we know a guy...
You know a guy who can get deals on ESP? I am all ears ;) I declined all the extra offers at the dealer (and just got $500 back on the extended plan I picked up on our Edge and never used)... I figured the CPO Gold 12/12000, and 7/100K would get us a few years down the road on this. And, I have zero fear of doing most if not all the work I can on the truck myself... but there are 2 things I don't think I want to tackle... the CDF Drum/trans work, and the damn blend door issue. Pretty much keeping 2-3K in the bank just to cover one of those when they happen.

Never herd of a Ranger getting a converter stolen , taillights are what needs protected from theft...
*New anxiety unlocked - Rear Tail lights being stolen* I had a friend who mentioned the dumbshit criminals mistake the Ranger for a F150 and go and hack off what they think are cats at times off the ranger, so just figured I'd make it less appealing... Also, armor is cool right?? am I doing truck things right here?

Im also reading a bit about the water leaking onto the plugs... thats an amazingly curious gap in the design!! Going to have to see whats up with my truck with that... and if its an issue, I happen to be an engineer who designs and mfgs fixes for problems like this ;)

Easy fix for the water in plugs , just a piece of split foam on the cowl , both taillights can be stolen with a 10 mm socket in about 2 minutes , at least 3 grand to replace , more if they really damage tailgate...

It able to be mitigated with a locked hard tonneau cover or at least discouraged with that? I assume they need to get into the bed to do this? I know the BLIS tail lights on most trucks are damn expensive, I didn't realize this was a thing to steal them!

Just looked up the replacement process for the rear tail lights... so ... yeah, all they need to do is open the tail gate and good to go. Wow.

Now to find some obscure security bolts to replace the factory ones :)

Yeah, they have to drop the tailgate , but even locked ? it's just a flat screwdrive away... some have used security head bolts and such to discourage low lifes...

This is the cheapest fix for the water intrusion , leaks where the cowl splits and drips on engine , one usually has to be parked slightly downhill for it to really pour though...

Ahh thats an easy fix! I can dig it.

As for the lights, I may throw some security torx or something on them, but yeah from doing some searching (I should really get back to work, but this is very interesting following all the hot tips around here) and seeing the method of exploit/attack (I work in cyber security... the lingo...) is pretty simple and ... hard to really protect the gate from being damaged before they realize they don have the right screw driver...

You've got the rare saber 2019 and I expect you have the foam cover on the engine. It supposedly keeps some water out.

It's likely the blend door in the AC/Heater system will fail on your (our) year truck, it's a pricey repair after warranty and requires the disassembly of the dash.

Lots of debate on other likely failures, the leading candidate is the transmission on pre-2023 Rangers have a component that leads to a rebuild - maybe.

Apart from those two things - and if you have the factory LED headlights ($$$) it's a good argument for the ESP.

Nice to see you are already appeasing the Ranger gods with your financial sacrifices ? I have been running the LMS tunes for 55k miles. I love the 93 performance tune but usually keep the towing tune in since I tow a decent amount. The 5100’s helped take the rocking might need some Dramamine effect away. Keep that mode list growing!

Hey all!

Long time Ecoboost fan, and Ford owner… just made the jump to my first truck! We had a 2017 Edge Sport loaded and loved it… it was tuned (LMS), and had a good bit of little tweaks to it. But I found this truck near-by with only 18K miles on it. After doing some checking and reading what I could and looking the truck over as much as I could… I can’t find anything off about it. 2 owners, a small carfax damage call out … but overall… legit. And CPO so, some solid protection if it is off in the next year. (And close to 3 years on the 7/100).

I got them to give me a good deal on the Edge, and knock a bit off the truck, in the end I got this Lariat for less than many similar higher mileage XLTs!

https://www.phillong.com/certified/Ford/2019-Ford-Ranger-4d5b53400a0e0a99541973c2e6f477d8.htm

Picked it up last night, and besides for some normal dealer snafus (Somehow they swapped the good Tonneau cover in the pics with a nasty one, I called it out and they gave me $700 off the truck, so that’s OK, already ordered a better one), Missing front floor mats, an missing a key (all of which they are replacing and are ordered)

Drives good, shifts good, no odd noises from the AC box/blend door, etc…

So here I am! Likely going to throw a LMS tune on it at some point since I have the tuner, and likely some 5100’s on all 4 corners to tighten stuff up a bit.

Nice to be part of the ranger community! No good outside or action photos... so here ya go in my driveway :)

welcome to r5g! great color! the low miles and 2 owners would give me a bit of suspicion but with a good warranty period left i wouldnt worry too much. as long as you got a good dealer.

Welcome aboard OP. Looks like you scored on a good deal. You have hit on the only real issues for a '19. I test drove the Saber before I got my Lightning Blue. Keep that credit card handy cause we love to spend your money, Ha Ha.
