I would have thought this was actually a thing, but I'm not having any luck finding such a product at usual sources.

When I reference "upfitter style" switches please see below referenced photo. Usually this term refers to a factory style 'stumpy paddle' type switch.

Now you can find these switches all day long, however they are generally packaged together with an OEM box enclosure or other OEM style faceplate. This generally lends itself to be model specific packages (ie; bronco, f-150, ranger, etc etc).

Finding this style of switch which can be mounted on any flat surface of a users choosing is proven elusive to me.

If you know of a source for a universal application of this type of switch design please let me know.

mouser electronics maybe.
you might try searching for them in marine / boat stores or applications. names like perko, Raytheon, blue sea system, Rule , solas etc. the opne pictured looks kinda cheesy but you get the idea.

Are you looking for those for the same reason I want them- ACTUAL LABELS that light up?
i’m trying to think of solutions, and my best option so far is a guaranteed PITA!

Not sure if anyone has seen how BMWs have their lights ambience lights (in certain places), deeply recessed in the ceiling and aimed at certain things. For example, the gear shifter.

You’ll notice it’s slick how it’s spotlighted, b/c there is absolutely no sign of a light and you wave your hand, and it lights up… (you have to put your head in a ridiculous spot to even spot the thing!)

It’s absolutely smooth, so I would love to do that & it would mount perfectly under the rearview mirror setup/map lights.

The most realistic I can come up with is to sort of match how the USB ports are lit up. But I don’t want it shining up on my windshield.

I don’t want to hijack the thread, so if I’m missing the mark, I apologize absolutely disregard!

Too bad it’s not as common as three-way, marine toggle switches. Even my side-by-side has a bunch of those. I’m sure there’s a two-way version as well.

Back to research I guess

(edited to fix typos. I should just stop using voice to text)
