Brief backstory, this truck has a branded title as it was stolen. I was wondering if this chime is normal with no key in ignition, or maybe something isn't grounded correctly. I ha

ve an extended warranty that covers electrical, so may bring it in if this is not normal

I have a Lariat (Push Button Start), but in this case it does not matter because that chime is the Headlight's are on warning.
Could not tell from brief pass in the video, the position of the Headlight Switch, if it is in any position except Off / Auto, you will get that chime.

You will find yourself hitting that rotary knob with your knee quite a bit, overlooking the obvious as you did not knowingly touch it.

Hum. I have a 2020 lariat, and I don't recall that sound, but maybe I turned it off in forscan.

Hmm may still be electrical as the switch is in auto (I have bumped with my knee before haha)

I can get that warning by opening the door, and when getting in hit that switch, knocking it out of Auto-Headlights to Headlights - On with my knee and sound the chime, that's how I know what that sound means, I hit the switch - AGAIN

The chime indicates that the truck is not running, and the headlights are -ON, are you sure you want to leave them on.

To me it seems like a chime that should happen if you left keys in ignition and off as a reminder to take keys. Guess neither of you guys would need to work about that haha

It's hard to tell for sure on chimes, as they sometimes sound alike but sound at different speeds, depending on severity of the warning (Alert-Level)

Possibly, someone with keyed ignition can leave key in ignition and open the door, as this may that.

I know the Lariat, will show a message on the IPC, if any chime is sounding, so you know where to look.

OK, checked manual and focused on Continuous Chime Sounds

Key In Ignition: Chime (1/2) sec chime continuous - If driver's door is opened, so opening passenger door should not set that chime off
Try putting key in and take it out, with door open and note any change.

Headlights On - (1-Sec) chime continuous, Same as above - Drivers Door - Opened, you may try cycling the switch in different positions and note any difference.

Park Brake (On) Warning Chime - (1/2) sec chime continuous, if vehicle in motion, you may try pulling and releasing the parking brake, just as a quick test.

Pinpoint Test for - Key in Ignition Chime - some of the steps

1. Place Headlight switch to off - ensure all exterior lights are off
2. Open / Close - Drivers Door - Do all interior lights turn off after they time out.

If you have Forscan , you may try a BCM Self-Test, you may find a code as well as this will be a (B) Body or (C) Communication code.

The Lariat gets a very loud and annoying - Quick Blast of the Horn if FOB is not left in the truck and engine is running and you exit, believe me it will get your attention and wake the neighbors at 3 am

I cannot remember exactly what the PID will show - something like (Valid) or similar wording.

With Scanner or Forscan - Check this Live Data, with Key-In and Key-Out

(IGN_SW_KEY_IN)

Ok I will check this, I can confirm this does not happen when I open the passenger door, driver side door only. I just got the truck, I will need to look into getting forscan

Keyed one over here. Chimes if key is in ignition and you open the door. Will also chime if ignition is off and lights are in any positions other than auto or off. You can adjust these settings in Forscan if you want

Ok thanks, yeah mine will chime constantly with driver door open, with no key in ignition and lights in auto. I'm thinking since this was a "totalled" truck because it was stolen that they jacked the wiring somehow. I did get a warranty that covers electrical, so may take it into Ford to check, after I try a few more things.

The one thing is that there is normally a message displayed on the IPC as the chime is sounding, now unsure if it will display with truck off. I think it will be due to the fact that the door is open.

Since we are unclear of the actual chime, and being given the information that the truck was stolen, we know that the ignition switch was damaged, that seams the most logical approach.

The wiring diagram shows Fuse 18 in the BCM (Fuse Panel by your Left Knee) feeds the Ignition Switch Circuit. 1/2 of the fuse feeds the Key in Signal / Central Unlock Relay (Door Locks) and the other 1/2 feeds the Key Release Interlock Actuator
This is a 3-Legged Fuse (Note)
With Fuse removed, does the chime stop?
Leave the fuse out a few minutes to give time for the BCM to reset its logic.

Power is fed to the Ignition switch, key is inserted. (Tumblers) Retract - BCM sees the retraction. (Key In Ignition) and grounds the circuit.

So, another possible fix, lightly spray some lube / graphite in the switch to free up a stuck tumbler.
Especially if chime sound stops with Fuse 18 Pulled.

If this does not help, then bad ignition switch, shorted wire for the Key Inserted circuit or bad BCM

I could be talking out of my ass here but...

That sounds like the low-battery chime.

My truck never chimed like that until I let it sit for a week without driving it. The battery still has the juice to start the truck, but the truck senses the battery isn't at some predefined level to keep power to systems that stay powered when it sits. I bet you'll start getting a message on your center screen now, intermittently, saying the battery saver was engaged while you weren't using your truck.
