As this has been an "issue" for decades, I must wonder why none of the car makers have made any solutions for this. Sure, there are after market solutions available but nothing is being offered by the manufacturers.That's true Langley, but depending on where you live or leave the car, the visor still being on the car when you return is chancey.
Simplest solution could be a thin-film PV panel in the upper part of the window (or roof, hood, what ever) which feeds electricity to the cabin fan.
Best option to date I have seen was in the Chevrolet Volt. You just left the car on, locked the doors and went to do your stuff. That 12kWh battery combined with a gas tank was good enough to run the full cooling/heating loop for weeks.
