Many posts about changing bulbs, but what about the whole unit? I've been taking pieces off for an hour and still can't get any access..... this thing is killing me

Put your truck up on ramps. Remove the skid plate. Work from the center of your truck. Unplug the wiring here to give you a little extra room. There are philips head screws in all four corners of the fog light mount.

A palm drive ratchet also helps.

I remember them being (T-25) Torx Head Screws, and for a little better access pull the fender liner lose at the lower end to get to the upper outboard screw.
I used a 1/4 dr ratchet, with short extension to go over the light assembly. It is a tight fit and can be done with minor scratches on the back of your hands.

That's right. I replaced the torx with philips due to adding a small nylon spacer to give my new lights more adjustment.

Outcome: Getting oem lights out harder than getting new Diode Dynamics in. One of the four torx screws is hidden and difficult to access, but access easier for all four on DD lights. Removed skid plate, air dam, dumb little plastic cover for the crash bar for access, plus turned wheel to one side. Note: aiming is just a guessing game during install... now I have to go back in there and move lights down a bit. Also, Diode Dynamics are well-built units, but the "Sport" option isn't as much light as hoped. Would opt for "Pro" option if I could do it again.

If I remember right I did not have to remove anything to add on DD driving lights to my Ranger Lariat. We raised up the front end and turned the wheels out as far as they could go and unscrewed the stock lights and added the new DD SS3 Pro Amber ones. They are frigging bright.

Is it possible after removing torx screws and removing unit to just change the bulb?

If you have the Lariat LED fogs the bulbs are not removable. Sealed unit. SORRY!

I actually found pulling the bumper the easiest way to change the fog lights assemblies. Once the bumper trim is off, it is 6 large nuts and one connector on the drivers side. And you don't have to have extra joints installed in your arms and fingers to reach all the fasteners. ? although they may come in handy for reaching some other maintenance items. ? Also your not laying on your back doing it. After having to pull the whole front off the truck to change out the headlights, pulling the bumper was a piece of cake.
