New ranger! Factory defect?

Got this baby Monday. No complaints except for the caulk?? Coming out of the body underneath! Dealership is going to "fix" it

I would leave that alone, don't start pulling or cutting it. side steps or rocksliders and you will never se it.

It does indeed look to be well caulked.

Looks like the pinch weld sealer was heavily applied... Frankly, I would leave it alone..

You may not know it, but a retired GM Oshawa Assembly guy (thirty-plus years) and a retired Ford Engineer (thirty-plus years) who has forgotten more about Ford Rangers than I could ever hope to learn, just gave you some great advice.

I know what I’d be doing, or rather, not doing.

That joint is sealed better than you can imagine, once they disturb that a void in the sealer more than likely will occur. Plus side is it is painted body color. Seam sealer like what is shown is sandable and paintable so all they would do is more than likely sand it flush and put some more paint on that will not be any where near as good as it is now.

Careful. They start cutting that off may lead to rust down the road if the metal is left unprotected.
