You may not know it, but a retired GM Oshawa Assembly guy (thirty-plus years) and a retired Ford Engineer (thirty-plus years) who has forgotten more about Ford Rangers than I could ever hope to learn, just gave you some great advice.
That joint is sealed better than you can imagine, once they disturb that a void in the sealer more than likely will occur. Plus side is it is painted body color. Seam sealer like what is shown is sandable and paintable so all they would do is more than likely sand it flush and put some more paint on that will not be any where near as good as it is now.
