Agreed, these new to me the new tune companies are probably great but I was working directly with the the code writer. Canned tunes I’m very Leary about..

I had the Livernois tune in my '19 for 3 years and it ran really good. Now I'm going to try the Unleashed tune. @TORQUERULES has worked with Torrie to perfect a tune for the Ranger and everyone seems to love it. Several ran the Livernois tune and now say they like this one is a lot more.

Way back in ‘05 canned tunes kinda worked for most. It seems to have gotten better but… IDK..

Mod move this of it's not in the correct category

My question is this:
I want to put the Ford performance tune on my 22' but I live in california it's not cleared with CARB so dealers here won't install it. If I did something like hypothetically drive 2 hours to my closest dealer in Arizona, would they install it and subsequently would the dealer honor the warranty if something went wrong with the drivetrain. Hypothetically.
where in CA do you live? I have the Ford Performance Tune and unless the laws have changed, it’s legal in CA. Had no problem getting a Ford Performance registered shop to install it in Irvine.

San Diego, the dealer won't install it on a 22' and I understand what all the rest of you are saying about a 3rd part tune but I'm not trying to mess with my warranty. I've had multiple vehicles tuned via superchips etc but im looking for a touch more power and a firmer shift. My dealer in San Diego will NOT install the tune. Honestly I'm trying to save the transmission that's my main concern at this point. Not that's I have an issue now but I know from mechanical knowledge that a fast firm shift is better.

Galpin Van Nuys was willing to do mine but I went to Hillbank Motor Sports in Irvine since they were closest to where I live and are an authorized dealer.
But is yours a 2022?

Just oder it from Levittown Ford, and install it yourself. The only bugaboo is the need for a PC to do the download and install. Total time, about 40 minutes.

The Ford tune certainly made my transmission shift “better” but it does not shift firmer. It just doesn’t lug and hunt for gears as much. I’m not sure you‘re going to get what you are hoping for.

One good thing about Torrie (Unleashed) is he will work with you through as many revisions that you need to make it the way you want it. So while it's technically a canned tune he will customize it for you if needed.

I think you know me well enough now that I don't like spending unnecessary money. ?? I could get my new Tremor tuned by Livernois for $150.00 (I already have the tuner and just need to transfer the Tremor to it) where the Unleashed tune is costing me $500. I trust that @TORQUERULES and Torrie have one of the best tunes out there for our truck and so far everyone else agrees that has tried it.

I'm not in California, so not trying to get off topic, but the bold lines above is what I'm learning and shooting for also. In emails back and forth with Torrie from Unleashed, I want to narrow it down to ONE tune to cover it all just like from the factory, but enhanced. Right now, if I want to tow/haul something, I push the button and that's it. If I want to boogie down the road, I push the go-go pedal down further. I don't want to be switching back and forth between tunes. I want one tune to give me some more power, still be able to haul things, and the shifting to be nicer. I don't want to buy more tunes than I need. So far Torrie has been very helpful answering questions, so I'm leaning towards Unleashed.

That's what I've heard/read from everyone else too. I don't think the guy ever sleeps because he seems to answer right away. lol Doc @Doc had also worked with Torrie when the Ranger first came out and has a really nice custom tune which is still o the tuner I bought from him.
